Small elephant family appears from the bush...
It is always a fantastic experience when you happen to be in position early and get the wonderful opportunity to watch these gentle giants emerge from the bush and cross the road right by you. They are such quiet animals and in Addo Elephant National Park you get the opportunity to watch these amazing animals up close and personal. In my opinion, Addo truly offers the best wild African Elephant viewing on the African continent.

Elephants rushing for water in Addo
This was a wonderful and amusing sighting of Elephants descending a hill on Ngulube Loop (opposite the erosion site). We were parked at the bottom of the hill and watched and listened as they trumpeted their way down the hill to the nearby water hole to quench their thirst.
I only started to video them when they were much closer as I used my cell phone to capture this footage. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
An Addo Lion on the move..
Addo is a wonderfully diverse National Park, but there is no doubt that a close encounter with an African Lion always creates a wonderful stir of excitement.

When the Elephants come marching.....
What a moment to experience. This family group looked like they were going to cross the dirt road (pictured in video) and then move towards the Woodlands Water Hole. We stopped at the junction hoping we would get a better view after they had crossed the dirt road. What a surprise we had in store. The ellies changed direction and headed straight towards us. We had a couple of vehicles in front of us and one not far behind us. The vehicle's engine was off and so I chose to stay exactly where we were.

An Enjoyable Moment
What an incredible way to spend a morning. The weather was perfect! It was hot with a slight breeze and the ocean was quite flat. We found ourselves amongst hundreds of Common Bottlenose Dolphins. They were quite literally all around us. Addo is so incredibly diverse and the Islands within Algoa Bay are part of a Marine Protected Area which is part of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park
Addo's Happy Elephants
What a treat! I trust you will enjoy this fun sighting as Addo's Elephants seem to be celebrating the weekend!
