Celebrate Easter with the KZN South Coast’s Mission Tourism Route. If you’re looking for a new and meaningful way to experience Easter this year, then head to the KZN South Coast’s Mission Tourism Route.
A local guide will take you on a tour that touches on the history of the Trappist monks who settled in the region in the 1880s. Having established Mariannhill, the Austrian monk, Franz Pfanner and around 30 others established the Trappist order in KwaZulu-Natal.
Two years later, they set up outstations as a way to provide education and skills training to communities in KZN’s rural areas – many of which can be found on the KZN South Coast. The Mission Tourism Route will stop at:

Assisi Mission at Oshabeni; and

Schoolchildren and the public will now get a chance to watch Zulu history brought to life through the Kurudi Afrika Programme taking place at Ntelezi Msani Heritage Centre in Mthwalume this February and March.
School Programme: Children will get to watch the Bhambhatha Kamancinza Musical written and directed by Howard Msomi. This cultural feature is running until 15 March with daily shows at 10am and 12pm. The cost is R45 per person which includes lunch.
Public Programme: There will be seminars, theatre exhibitions, business fairs, music and more from 20 to 24 March. This concludes with a commemoration of the 1906 Mthwalume Poll Tax uprising on 24 March at 8am.

Furniture Manufacturing: There are quality crafted furniture products throughout the KZN South Coast. Out of Wood, which sources timber locally from Surejoy Industries, is an example of the potential in this sub-sector. SCTIE has identified a gap in the value chain for transporting these handcrafted goods to the Gauteng market and beyond.
Textile Manufacturing: Opportunity exists in cut, make, and trim (CMT) manufacturing to support the local fashion industry. Cengemajita Fashion & Entertainment is one emerging CMT manufacturer, with school uniform manufacture a focus. Investors could further this capacity, with potential for a mall-based retail outlet.

What is it? This is a R50m Greenfield project earmarked for development on SCTIE-owned land. The 91.4ha farmland is located along the N2 freeway in Umdoni Local Municipality.
What is the investment potential? Light industrial business opportunities, with an option to create an industrial park using green design principles.
2. Port Shepstone Intermodal Facility
What is it? This R550m facility on Nelson Mandela Drive is a 3-storey development with underground parking in the heart of Port Shepstone, the KZN South Coast’s business hub.
