Change of German Visa application centre
Intergate Visalink, the current Visa Application Centre for German visa applications, will be closing their offices in Pretoria, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. The details of the new service provider will be confirmed. The last date to lodge applications in Port Elizabeth is 21 February 2020 and in Pretoria and Cape Town is 25 February 2020.

Schengen Visa Changes
Effective the beginning February 2020 there will be some changes regarding the schengen visa application rules and pricing. South African passport holders who frequent schengen countries and have a positive visa history may qualify for visas with an extended validity period of up to five years. The validity of the visa will be at the discretion of the Issuing Authority. South African Passport holders will also be able to apply up to 6 months prior to travel rather than the 3 months that are currently permitted. We can also expect a slight increase in the visa fee from 60 - 80 Euro. We will keep you updated on any other changes.

Proof of sufficient funds (EUR 50/day) for duration of the stay should be ONE of the following:

3 months bank statement which should be drawn from the cheque/current account which reflects the salary that the applicant is receiving. Please note that a private person may not be sponsored by another private person. If the applicant is a minor, three months current bank statements are required from a sponsoring parent as well as a proof of employment letter for the sponsoring parent. For a business trip, same as above and the proof of sufficient funds can also be mentioned on the employment letter/ letter of invitation depending who will be taking care of the costs. (Cash will not be accepted as proof of foreign exchange)

IRELAND
No visas are required by South African passport holders . They must be in possession of a full valid passport, valid for a minimum of 6 months, with 2 blank pages.

The passenger should be in possession of :

Proof of accommodation (this can be a letter of invitation if the traveller is staying with friends or family - the letter needs to state the contact details of both the traveller and the host. If traveller staying in a hotel, a confirmed and pre-paid hotel booking for the entire stay needs to be presented)
6 Months bank statement showing that there are enough funds for the duration of your stay. (R1500 per day) and have EURO500 in cash .
Return airline tickets
Proof of medical/travel insurance.
A letter from employer stating that passenger is returning to their job in SA. The valid passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months before the date of return.
PLEASE BE SURE THAT PAX IS IN POSSESSION OF THE ABOVE DOCUMENTS

NOTE: It is up to each visitor to satisfy the Irish immigration authorities at the port of entry that they have sufficient funds to cover their expenses for the duration of their visit. A visa is required if travelling to Northern Ireland as it is part of the UK.

Remember that if travelling to Northern Ireland, a visa is required as it is part of the United Kingdom.
