Update: Hi to all. I have been a bit quiet lately as my family and I have been on kind of a Rollercoaster in the last week. I got a plasma cell transfusion on Tuesday, when my Dr confirmed that we will be starting the transplant process on the 4th of January. My blood counts were good, meaning my risk of infection had been lowered, but that the cancer was still present. He mentioned that I had some antibodies(resistance), to some of Rameez's, my 15 year old sons, cells. He said that there was some medication I had to take and that they would have to 'rinse my plasma cells', using a dialysis type of machine. He said it might delay things a bit as we needed to get authorization from the medical aid. On Friday I called Dr office, just to confirm dates. Dr called me late Friday afternoon, telling me the transplant was off for now as he was concerned about the high antibodies(resistance) that I had against Rameez's cells. He asked if my mummy could be tested, but her age and health and chronic medication means that she too cannot be a donor. My Dr last day of work was Monday and he had a full day of appointments, so he agreed that I could meet him at the hospital on Sunday. Dr worked out that I would have to be in cape Town, until at least July. That too was not guaranteed. With all that being said, I have been in Cape Town since August. I was willing to stay in cape Town, at least until the end of March and maybe end of April if really needed. I then explained to Dr that it has been financially draining. I have "budgeted", with the help of my family until the end of March. I then explained to him that it is also emotionally draining, not being home and close to my loved ones. We then decided, that Dr will transfer me to Pretoria East Transplant unit. I looked online for flights to come home and praise God, we got flights for Christmas Day. I am home, a bit weak, a bit of pain and very tired. In the meantime, my daughter Najma, 11years old, has also been tested and we should get her results back before the end of January. I know that all my family and friends are extremely excited to have me home. I need to get settled in, rest a bit and get a bit stronger before I can receive visitors. Also please note that I have strict instructions from my Dr, no visiting of malls, no visiting in crowded places, where I might pick up and infection, no visitors who are sick with flu, sinus, colds, nausea, Diarhea or any kind of virus. Also no contact with anyone who has been in contact with those who have been sick. I know it's a handful of no's and don't. As you all know I love and thrive being around family and loved ones, but for now, I have to adhere to strict Dr's orders or I will end up back in hospital again Please remember us all in your prayers. Love, hugs and kisses to all.
