The Shepherd's Fields in Bethlehem
In the area of east Bethlehem, caves exist where shepherds “kept watch over their flock”. Here, the Gospel of Luke tells us, an angel announced the birth of Jesus.
A tent-shaped Chapel of the Angels, adjoins the remains of a 4th-century church and a later agricultural monastery. Behind the chapel is a natural cave available for small group worship.

Pilate's Judgement Hall
Fortress Antonia in the northwest portion of the temple complex where Jesus was sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate. This is the original pavement of Judgment Hall. Nearby pavement has inscriptions from soldiers' dice games.
When Pilate heard these words he brought Jesus out and seated him on the judge’s bench in the place called Stone Pavement, in Hebrew, Gabbatha. It was preparation day for Passover, and it was about noon. And he said to the Jews, “Behold, your king!” They cried out, “Take him away, take him away! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your king?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” John 19:13-15

Exploring the streets of Old Jerusalem
Israel is a typical Middle Eastern country - different, busy, noisy and even chaotic at times.
Don’t be put off by the commercial aspect of Israel. Tourism is one of the highest foreign exchange earners for the country, and it is natural that this market will be exploited.
You must expect to see large ornate buildings and shrines over some Biblical sites. It is unfortunate that many places have not been left in their simple original state. As Christians we don't need an ornate building to worship in, and so one must try to separate this aspect from the simple, yet dynamic event which took place on that site.

Jacob's Well (John 4)
It is here where Jesus asked a Samaritan woman for a drink and offered her “living water”. Here we are in the underground room of a modern Greek Orthodox church at Nablus in the West Bank.
John 4:13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
This is the only well that exists in this particular region.

Jacob's Well (John 4)
The small suburb of Askar (New Testament Sychar)is just to the northeast of the modern city of Nablus. It was in the vicinity of Sychar where Jesus met the Samaritan Woman at “Jacob’s Well” (John 4).
In 1860 the Greek Orthodox purchased the property and restored the crypt that included the famous 75 ft. deep well. The foundation and walls of a church were begun in the 20th century and the church was not completed until 2007.
Since no one can move a well that was originally more than 40 metres deep, it is often considered the most authentic site in the Holy Land.

Approaching the view of the Old City of Jerusalem

How can the Bible become alive?
How can the Bible become alive?
Well, it’s rather indescribable.
But it is truly possible.
See, it all starts with the Spirit of God.
The breath of God contains all the life we need.
When He touches us, we become different beings all together.
And his light, the truth fills us up.
His joy becomes our strength.
It’s a relationship that stays with us, wherever we go.
His goodness and mercy follows us, it stays with us forever.
Israel isn’t just a destination or a place we visit.
It is where it all started.
When the feet of Jesus hit the earth,
and after 33 righteous years of living,
His blood fell into the dust, onto our transgressions.
It cleansed us and paid for us to become white as snow.
Now we get to be His family.
We get to walk as He walks.
We get to walk where He walked.

Capernaum Town of Jesus
All four gospels report that Jesus visited Capernaum and often attended the synagogue there:
Matthew 4:23 describes Jesus leaving Nazareth and settling in Capernaum
Mark 1:21-28 describes Jesus teaching and healing in the synagogue
Luke 4:31-37 describes Jesus teaching regularly in the synagogue, cf. Luke 4:23
John 6:22-59: contains Jesus' Bread of Life Discourse; verse 59 confirms that Jesus taught this doctrine in the Capernaum synagogue.
