Botswana memories, driving off from campsite 1 at Bains Baobabs (limited wildlife but a wonderful place te camp). These baobabs were used as a landmark during early explorers in Botswana.
The name Bains comes from the British artist Thomas Bains who first painted these trees (+/- 1850)

Just wrapped up an incredible tour through the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) with Arno Deroo! Our route: Maun ➡️ Nxai Pan ➡️ Baines Baobabs ➡️ Deception Pan ➡️ Phokoje ➡️ Tau Pan ➡️ Maun. The Kalahari delivered beyond expectations: 20 lions 🦁 across 4 sightings, a stunning 9 honey badgers, a herd of testosterone-charged bull elephants 🐘 🙈, and 101 bird species (including those spotted in Maun and Nxai Pan). Best of all, we had a magical encounter with an African Wild Cat and a rare, unforgettable Caracal sighting—20 minutes of pure wonder before she disappeared into a burrow! 😍 (camera footage will follow) Key highlights: The road to Matswere entrance? Let’s just say, it’s not for the faint of heart 😉—Tsau Gate is a much easier option! The road to Pipers Pan is rough too, but absolutely worth every bump and detour. CKGR still radiates that untamed magic.
