Lotus Angels is a Durban-based NPO currently in the process of registration. Dedicated to assisting the parts of Isipingo that have been hardest-hit by the COVID-19 crisis, the organisation is currently working on a number of projects to provide some relief and joy to this community. Lotus Angels is currently operating without any form of external funding, yet have successfully carried out extensive feeding projects during the National Lockdown. They are looking for sponsors for their upcoming Christmas project.

LOTUS ANGELS CHRISTMAS PROJECT
Lotus Angels have set a target to provide goodie bags to a minimum of 200 children in the Isipingo District over Christmas. Without funding, they are searching for sponsors for the following items:
Drawstring bags
Juice
Chips
Sweets
Chocolates
A game or toy

Sponsorships in excess of 200 units of each will be greatly appreciated as it would mean that Lotus Angels can spread to Xmas joy to more children.

3 POINTS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR COVID-19 CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS
With the national lockdown coming into effect in two days’ time, business owners are bracing themselves to be hit hard. Whilst it is not going to be possible to dodge this bullet, you can do your best to maintain your customer loyalty and increase brand awareness in the interest of responsible service delivery during this time. Here are 3 tips to include in your message:

1. LET CUSTOMERS KNOW HOW YOUR SERVICE DELIVERY WILL BE AFFECTED
Explain how the lockdown will be affecting your services, if at all. Be clear about your operating times and how you will be handling orders and backlogs. This will let your customers know what to expect in terms of service delivery BEFORE any delays occur and will ease additional pressures on you when business resumes. Don’t make any false promises as service failures can and will tarnish your reputation.

2. EXPLAIN WHAT HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES YOU ARE PUTTING INTO PLACE
Give customers the reassurances they need by letting them know what precautionary Health & Safety measures your business has put into place for before and after the lockdown. Deliver on this. Don’t take any shortcuts in any of these measures. Failures in this aspect of your business can and will become a costly oversight on your part.

3. EXPLAIN HOW YOUR BUSINESS IS DOING ITS PART TO HELP
Consumers appreciate service providers who care about the Community. Even though it may not be possible to make any big gestures in this regard, even small efforts will have a huge impact in the long term – not only on the less fortunate, but on your brand as well. Aligning your brand with the qualities of caring and altruism - especially during times of need; will help consumers associate these qualities with your brand over the long term.
