Hazel Bogadi Ookedjise, a vibrant 18-year-old from Botswana, will represent her nation in the Miss Tourism Africa 2024 pageant.

With a fervent ambition to pursue a career in pharmacy, Hazel aspires to make history by bringing home the international crown through the Miss Tourism Africa International platform.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Setswana, Hazel is not just a beauty queen but also a multilingual talent. Her passion for sports shines through her love for netball and badminton.

As the official ambassador of tourism for Botswana, Hazel aims to leverage her influence to shed light on the lesser-known tourist attractions of her country. Her ultimate goal is to attract international tourists and global investments to contribute to the growth of Botswana's tourism sector.

an inexact assurance of fame
and fortune.
Flaunted bare amidst jeers
and sneers.
Confined inside a bamboo
cage in London’s Piccadilly circus.
Promoters described your genitalia
as “resembling the skin that hangs
from a turkey’s throat”.
Your ethnicity was derided by
those who called themselves
superior.

Bought by a French animal trainer.
You were locked up in a cage
with a baby rhinoceros and
ordered to sit or stand in the
same way the circus animals
were ordered.
For Two shillings; the exhibition
flowed like a river.
For extra payment; the public
prodded with fingers and sticks.

The French scientists called
it steatopygia.
Compared your belle derriere
to that of a female mandrill.
A gnarly case of sexual
primitivism and intellectual
equality equivalent
to that of an orangutan.
A justification of racial
inferiority and stereotypical
hypersexuality.
Unbeknownst; A disease that
is rooted in our ethnicity and
celebrated today.

The world that dehumanized
you, hang your pride out to dry
like clothes on the line.
Took a death cast of your tired body,
removed your skeleton and
pickled your brain and ge****ls
in a jar when your string of
life got cut off too soon.

You were reduced to an artifact.
For more than 100 years, your genitalia
floated in a pickling jar on the dusty
