Due to the vast weather conditions over the last few days, the roads are extremely wet and in some places may have ice. If one must venture out today, please take care.Make sure your animals are safe and warm.

🚨⚠️ MALGAS FERRY CLOSED - 9 April 2024

Please note that the Pont/Ferry at Malgas is not operational until further notice due to a mechanical break that needs to be repaired.

Furthermore, it is planned to have the annual hull inspection done by SAMSA at the same time.

Due to the current weather conditions and the river levels that have risen significantly, the ferry will be taken out of the water and anchored up the access slope for the repairs and hull inspection.

Unfortunately, no time period can be attached to the repair of the mechanical problem. During this period the ferry will not be able to take vehicles and passengers across the river.

The N6 between Rouxville and Smithfield is now open.

Thanks to all parties involved in helping/clean up etc of this accident. Much appreciated.

Road Closed

N6 between Rouxville & Smithfield is closed currently.

The alternative routes from Bloemfontein:

1. Take the the N1 to Bethulie,Goedemoed ( gravel road), Aliwal North N6 ( tar road)

2. Bloemfontein to Wepner, by pass Zastron, Rouxville, N6, Aliwal North. All tar roads.

When coming into Rouxville from Smithfield on the N6 just before the Petrol station (Total garage) on the lefthand side of the road one will notice these shevron board's. We are waiting for Sanral to repair the broken manhole cover.
