Happy 20-year anniversary, Tamsen Birss
We’re pleased to congratulate our Team Manager, Tamsen Birss, on reaching an impressive milestone of 20 years with Sense of Africa, South Africa.
We asked Tamsen to reflect on her journey with the . Here’s what she shared:
Tell us about how your career began?
After studying Travel and Tourism Management at Johannesburg University, I started my career at Springbok Atlas, working in the touring and logistics division. I later took a position as a junior consultant at Welcome Tours & Safaris in the domestic division. Over time, I progressed through various roles, working with different markets that the business serves.
Do you remember your first day at Tourvest?
Yes, I do. My first day stands out clearly. I was new to both the corporate world and inbound travel, but the management team made me feel welcome.
How has the journey been?
It’s been a good experience. I’ve seen many changes over the years and watched the business grow and adapt. It’s been interesting to be part of that journey.
What do you enjoy most about being part of Tourvest?
I appreciate the team spirit at Tourvest. People come together to get things done, and there’s a culture of helping each other out. I also value the open sharing of information when someone needs support or advice.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
There have been many highlights, but my biggest achievement so far is completing 20 years with the company.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to continue growing the market I work in while also developing my skills further. I’d like to keep learning more about our products and services and take on new challenges within the management team.
