Chaos Theory had the privilege of being asked by Takealot to create an activation campaign to complement their ‘Thanksalot’ Campaign. We put our thinking hats on and in true Chaos style, flipped it on its head. Resulting in the "𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗠𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗼𝘅 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝘄"

The Consumer-Centric activation was best filled with Cheesy 90's gameshow nuances like our over-the-top game master and sassy gameshow assistance with the larger-than-life dance intro to get the ball rolling. We had an amazing time rewarding loyal shoppers for their continuous support over the years. The 'Takealot Thanksalot Mystery Draw' was a hit!

Working with Marriott Bonvoy, our team leveraged their partnership with Orlando Pirates Football Club to increase awareness of the partnership and its benefits.

An express objective of the partnership was to solidify the Protea Hotels brand association with Marriott Hotels and the Marriott Bonvoy program.

We strategically developed and conceptualised the idea of Orlando Pirates-themed hotel rooms. Then, we appointed a local interior designer to create a unique dual interior design using two rooms inside the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Johannesburg, Melrose Arch.

Using imagery, fabrics, and handcrafts from the streets of Soweto, two unique rooms mirroring the contrasting Black and White colour schemes were designed, fitted, and launched in May 2023 as a fitting end to a winning season.

One of our favourite parts of the campaign was that the rooms were exceptionally well received and generated exponential PR and conversational value.

After three months of planning, and coordinating watch parties in four cities across Africa the NBA Finals came to SA with spectacular watch parties across the continent – and SA showed up in style!

Chaos Theory proudly delivered the Durban experience integrating innovative experiential activities like a 'Slo Mo Slam Dunk' and a fully interactive LED half-court. With outdoor festival vibes, every detail was planned to create an immersive and engaging experience for guests to watch the game.

We had an incredible time bringing the 𝑳𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒉
to life! The Chaos team was tasked with creating a tailored entertainment experience featuring interactive and engaging segments to showcase the new property at Cedar Square, capturing the essence of the new brand direction.

We achieved this by creating a three-pronged entertainment experience consisting of:

- 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 that set the mood and create an atmosphere conveying the tone of the evening. We achieved this through a premier arrival red carpet experience starting as our welcome hostess’s dress. As it wrapped around her body, the dress spanned down the staircase and became the red carpet where guests took pictures, with the La Parada press wall as a backdrop, creating a memorable arrival experience.

- 𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 showcasing high fashion within the La Parada setting, combined with contemporary, fierce female boss choreography, delivered in abundance by Michelle Oppenshaw. The choreography perfectly complemented the edgy, contemporary venue styling and design, showcasing its architectural design to its fullest.

- 𝗔𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 that allowed guests to interact with the brand through mood enhancers. These characters were brought to life through mime, improvisation, and over-the-top costume design.

The evening was a triumph, allowing Chaos Theory to create a unique and memorable brand experience for both our client and their guests.

Jacaranda Day

It is not often we get to help plan a little party for 10,000 of our closest friends.

When Jacaranda FM and Huawei wanted to re-stage the iconic Jacaranda Day, that’s exactly what the Chaos Theory team did.

Integrated seamlessly with the marketing, event and on-air teams at Jacaranda and Huawei. Our team planned, strategised and project managed all aspects of this great addition to the Jozi entertainment calendar.

Venue sourcing, security and risk management, traffic planning, access control, staging, lighting and sound, artist management, stage and full concert production management, screen content and live camera production, catering, concessions and everything in between.

A great group efforts, and a spectacular result as 13 Top Local acts took to the stage and brought Jacaranda Day 2023 to life.

What a vibe.

Now in its third successful year we are again teaming up with our friends at Montecasino to bring a bigger Montecasino Festive Market to life this December.

After the success of the 2022 market, we are more than doubling in size and are on the hunt for innovative, premium and unique vendors that wish to be part of this iconic fixture within the comprehensive Montecasino festive programme.

We have also widened our offering to include a festive food court and are specifically looking for food & beverage vendors that offer a unique festive culinary experience, from Gluhwein to festive toffee apples, gingerbread houses and everything in between.

We are also looking for unique, interesting "gifting" ideas and operators to run festive handicraft workshops…all as part of the expanded Market offering.

With over 20 years sports sponsorship experience the Chaos team have worked on everything cricket, from Standard Bank Pro20 to the ICC Cricket World Cup, World T20 and the even the IPL.

When we were asked to contribute to the newly developed SA20 tournament, we jumped at the opportunity to, well, make a statement!

Faking a poorly presented, badly planned press launch, we dropped the curtain, literally, on the new tournament just as the guests were getting ready to revolt!

What followed was a fast paced view into the real world of SA20 with compelling insights from the 6 brand new teams, the launch of the fixtures and ticketing info and, of course, a healthy dose of integrated entertainment made the launch feel exactly like the tournament to follow.

Loud, Exciting, Slick and with plenty of surprises.

We love bold and brave clients, and can’t wait to flex our muscles again for season 2 of this exciting tournament.

What a start to the year.
We couldn’t be more proud of our Chaos Team for pulling out all the stops in producing, managing 8 projects in 7 weeks across the the African and European Continent. From an International IT Conference for Marriott in Jordan to leveraging our own sponsorship strategy for Marriott Bonvoy and Orlando Pirates after the launch last year at the iconic Soweto Derby.

After bringing to life the premier of Two Iconic franchise films for Ster Kinekor across 9 venues, we moved onto the star studded premiere of 1Magic’s “Real Housewives of Gqeberha”. On the next flight out to Cape Town for the 2023 Mining Indaba on behalf of Astron and finally our most recent project, the complete project management, content strategy, show production and implementation of the Protea Hotels GM Conference 2023. *PHEW....

Brent Lindeque, South Africa's Good Things Guy (and Andrew Ross' partner), just called and asked to be put on speaker phone in the team boardroom.

He is absolutely disgusted that we are not posting about all the projects we are busy with.

"Listen, I know I'm not part of this business but it looks like you haven't done any events since August!!! And that's ridiculous!!!"

"You have worked on International conferences, launched a rebrand across the entire Southern Africa, conceptualised and shot a global advert for a massive brand, pulled off huge events with Orlando Pirates, the global Marriott hotel group, did the South African premieres for House of Dragons, Elvis, Minions, Top Gun, The Woman King and you launched the new SA20 cricket with a massive bang!!! And that was just November!!!!"

So this post is an apology to Brent and a note to let you know that we are doing some incredible things (with really amazing clients) but we're just a little busy actually doing the work.

The Chaos Theory team was thrilled to be given the opportunity to conceptualise and create an immersive Medieval event for the South African premier of House of the Dragons for MNET and HBO.

It's not often you get to create an immersive event experience, using the Game of Thrones world as a pallette.

It's even rarer to find clients brave enough to allow you to throw out the rule-book of tick-the-box events.

There was nothing "ordinary" about this event, with two roaming hosts sitting and chatting to the audience whilst seamlessly moving the programme along, drunken villagers fighting over two beautiful maidens and ending in a bar brawl with broken bottles, and sword fights.

Food was dramatic, served on glowing embers, or with smoke billowing out from trays and ... in true feast style ... just kept coming, course after course.

Fire dancers, medieval entertainment, stoney castle guards, an actual castle in Hout Bay with dragon skulls - and of course a first-of-a-kind live premiere of the first episode of House of the Dragons almost three days before the rest of SA get to see it.

Almost 30 event crew and a cast of over 40 villagers, dancers, stunt performers, acting students and hosts pulled the events together in Jhb and CT simultaneously, and we will share a video of the highlights soon!
