A selection of images I took on a safari in Tanzania in December last year. We spent 3 days in the Ndutu area and these are just a few of the images I captured.

I spent June and July in Tanzania this year. The game viewing was spectacular. This selection of images highlights some of the sightings we had in teh Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.

The tiniest hippo that I have seen before. This photo was taken on our Pafuri Walking Trail last week by Warren Dugmore. I reckon that the hippo had possibly been born that day as the mother was away from the rest of the pod. There were a number of crocodiles basking on the sand bank, but the mother hippo did not seemed threatened by their presence at all. It is sightings like this that continue to surprise us and keep pulling us back to the bush.

Hwange is a relatively unknown game viewing destination. People are often asking me about it. I thought that the best way to tell you about it would be to show you a selection of images I took on a 2-night stay in April 2010. If you are looking for a truly wild destination with great game viewing, Hwange is the place. Access by road or air is easy from Vic Falls.

We were on our last morning's drive out of Mombo in September, 2005 when we found this leopard on a branch in a sausage tree. Our guide, Richard Daugherty, speculated that since the tree was in bloom, the leopard was waiting for impala to come in to scoff up the blossoms on the ground. Sure enough,

In 10 years of guiding and a year of lecturing game ranging I have heard some funny things. Here's one of my favourites. Guest from the northern hemisphere (I won't name and shame): "So Simon, what is the best time of year to come to Sabi Sabi?" Simon: "It is tricky to say. Each season is different, but I like June and July." Guest: "Is that your June and July or our June and July?"
