Considered the Christmas Capital of the World 🎄🇫🇷 🖤

Strasbourg, France, famously known as the "Capital of Christmas," offers one of the most magical holiday experiences in the world! 🎄✨ Each year, the city transforms into a winter wonderland with dazzling lights, charming wooden chalets, and a festive atmosphere that dates back to 1570—making Strasbourg's Christmas market one of the oldest in Europe.

Set against the backdrop of the stunning Strasbourg Cathedral, the Christkindelsmärik sprawls through the city’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors can wander through over 300 market stalls, filled with handmade crafts, beautiful ornaments, and mouthwatering treats like gingerbread and vin chaud (mulled wine). Everywhere you look, traditional decorations and twinkling lights make the medieval architecture glow, creating a storybook-like scene.

One of Strasbourg's most iconic attractions is its breathtaking Great Christmas Tree, which towers in Place Kléber. Standing over 100 feet tall, it is beautifully adorned with lights and ornaments, captivating everyone who gathers beneath its branches. Alongside the tree, local choirs, carolers, and festive performances fill the air with seasonal cheer, adding even more magic to the experience.

Strasbourg’s Christmas celebrations are rooted in tradition and community, creating a joyful, inviting atmosphere that’s impossible to resist. From the timeless décor and warm lights to the rich aromas of holiday treats, Strasbourg truly embodies the Christmas spirit, drawing people from all over the world to experience its enchanting charm.

CEMAIR SUSPENDS FLIGHTS TO PLETTENBERG BAY AIRPORT UP TO APRIL 2025 DUE TO THE CONTINUED AIRPORT DOWNGRADE

It is with regret that we inform our Plettenberg Bay passengers that due to the continued downgrade of the Plettenberg Bay Airport by the SA Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), the suspension of flights to Plett airport has been extended to 10 April 2025. This decision comes following the 08 October 2024 airport status communication provided by Garden Route Aero, the airport operator.

It is hoped that the Airport will have regained its Category 5 certification by April 2025 allowing the airline to resume its scheduled service.

All flights booked from Johannesburg to Plettenberg Bay until 10 April 2025 date will automatically be rebooked on our George service. Passengers will receive an automated booking change notification with new flight details.

For our Cape Town passengers travelling to Plettenberg Bay we will be introducing a flight between Cape Town and George during peak periods. Passengers travelling on these days will receive an automated booking change notification with their new travel details. Passengers travelling on days where no alternative CemAir flight is available will be provided with a credit for the value of their fare.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we await the reopening of Plettenberg Bay Airport for commercial flights.

About Plettenberg Bay Airport
The airport in Plettenberg Bay is owned by Bitou Municipality which has been operating the facility since construction. In November 2021 CemAir secured a Category 5 rating for Plettenberg Bay Airport based on the capabilities of its fire fighting vehicle, equipment and the fire-fighting training provided by CemAir to the Bitou staff.
The municipality recently entered into an agreement with RSA Aero for the long-term management of the airport facility. The airport license was completely suspended by the SA Civil Aviation Authority on 31 July 2024 due to the degraded state of the runway. In Sept 2024 the airport applied for and received a basic downgraded Category 2 license to allow for private traffic to continue to make use of the facilities.
Once the runway is refurbished, the re-establishment of category 5 fire- fighting services is a key component to the airport restoring its Category 5 capability and license thereby allowing CemAir to resume commercial flights.
