After a superb day spent going behind-the-scenes with Norwegian Cruise Line at their epic Creative Studios in Tampa, I’m in Miami for 2 days before boardibg NCL’s Encore for a week on the Caribbean ☀️ . Waiting for Alessia Collura Brown to land so I can ramp up the fun factor!

Looking back on on a recent trip into three of Namibia’s beguiling desert regions, I was so disturbed to read this, by Don Pinnock, in the Daily Maverick yesterday 🦏😰 Yet another mining op that threatens to destroy sensitive ecosystems & creatures like the rare desert-adapted black rhino. When will this lust for minerals & money end? 😥

Sharing a few slides from an extraordinary encounter with the Himba womenfolk & their families at a miniscule village in the Marienfluss Conservancy.

Wilderness Serra Cafema has ensured excellent relationships with these local Himba villages & regular guest visits there exemplify sensitive, mutually beneficial cultural tourism.

Some of the direct benefits for the Himba include the building & ongoing support of the Marienfluss School, the first school in the conservancy with Grades 0 to 7, & a conservancy clinic. Wilderness also delivers fresh water to the nearby villages three times a week, plus supports in various other ways.

One of the things I loved about this Namibian trip was the good conversation. At mealtimes, on nature drives, in the safari vehicle, on walks. The rolling chit chat was a delight.

Having wifi relegated to specific areas in camp came with great rewards. No gadgets running interference or screens demanding attention. A win.
