Red Tide alert - posted 13th April 2022

There is currently a red tide between Klein Brak and Glen Glentana.

The red tide has been classed as a non HAB (harmful algal bloom), but beach goers are advised to refrain from harvesting and/or eating any marine shellfish.

Other sections of the coastline in the Garden Route are being monitored for the presence of red tide.

Did you know that Sedgefield is the town with the most long distance swimmers in South Africa, maybe even the world? Even when the sun is dropping below the horizon both young and old jump into the Swartvlei Estuary for a quick kilometre long swim. Ok they just drift with the incoming or outgoing tide but it is really worth trying!
