Sedgefield's Christmas Pledge for 2024.

Sedgefield's Christmas pledge was created in 2016 with the help of our amazing community, big-hearted public, and a few minions and elves. We hope to ask you once again to open your hearts and pledge a Christmas package for several very vulnerable children in our community who have experienced particularly difficult times over the past year.
Only one Sedgefield Pledge has been missed, in 2023, and we hope to bring it back in 2024. We hope our loyal supporters and some new ones will come back on board and give hope to some children who have had a terrible year, even for a split second.

Here's how it works:
• Through registered non-profit organizations we select the beneficiaries, Masithandane who offer valuable care for vulnerable children and work alongside local social services are a great support to this project.
• Children with the greatest needs are selected each year.
• After that, we approach those who are interested in sponsoring a child or children.
• After sponsoring a child, we will send you a list of available pledges, including the child's name, age, and gender. Once you select your pledge, we will provide you with the child's first name.
• An age-appropriate Christmas box, and a food hamper to avoid hunger, especially on Christmas day.
• Gary has kindly offered the Oysters Edge Restaurant in Sedgefield as a drop-off point.
• We will then hand each pledge directly to the child in the 2nd week of December, along with the support of Masithandane and the social worker, so the gift can be anything you can afford. This means anybody can afford to feel the spirit of Christmas giving.
• We also encourage you to write a card or letter of uplift and love with your names on it.
We also cannot forget the Animals! Any animal food donations will be handed out with Sedgefield Animal Matters who do incredible work within the community caring for our animals.
