Simbavati Trails Camp is Simbavati’s luxury-but-back-to-basics walking trails camp. Located in a secluded area of the Timbavati, Simbavati Trails Camp borders an unspoilt wilderness area of 11, 000 hectares in the Kruger National Park.

The camp offers 4 en-suite Meru-style safari tents and hosts a maximum of 8 guests. Bucket showers are filled on demand with warm water, hearty meals are prepared over an open fire by an expert cook, there is no electricity, nor cellphone reception. Just you, in the heart of an untamed African wildlife wonderland.

Simbavati Trails Camp does not accommodate children under 16 years’ old unfortunately.

To enjoy the full walking trail experience, a 3-night stay is recommended.

Dear Traveller,

Have you noticed how the selling price of a Ferrari has come down considerably since the start of the pandemic and the value has halved? You haven’t? Neither have I and the reason for this is that it probably hasn’t. See, it’s the same with travel. The value of a stay at a 5 star resort (or a guesthouse for that matter) has not depreciated during the pandemic. On the contrary, a lot of guesthouses, hotels and resorts have used the downtime to improve their offering.

As a travel professional, I understand that you might have suffered a salary decrease (or not) or you are just simply looking for the best possible deal for your next holiday. I think it is safe to say that the majority of hotels are offering special deals so you are in for maximum value for your money to begin with.

Please understand that by shopping around, playing one offer against another and putting pressure on getting an even greater discount is adding insult to injury. The travel industry has been hit as one of the hardest (if not THE hardest). The recovery will take time and the process around the COVID-19 regulations is rather complicated, inconsistent and sometimes irrational.

The great effort and time that your travel agent invests in sending you the umpteenth quotation, cutting his or her margin further out of desperation after not having had income for months; the reservation staff recalculating the quote again and again and the person in charge having to make further sacrifices to match a quote you got from a competitor online... just to win your booking. The additional time spent after hours which we could have spent with our families or by generating more income (which we so desperately need).

Dear Traveller, don’t get me wrong. We have been longing for you and our doors are wide open. Just remember that we still need to make ends meet, feed our families, pay salaries and secure the smooth operation of the establishment where you will be staying and the services you are going to enjoy. Because we want you to have a great time and enjoy your holiday. Not only for you to share your feedback with other travellers but because this is what we are passionate about, being in the hospitality industry.

So when you inquire about your next booking and ask for yet another discount - remember the Ferrari.
