They did it!

A belated post to complete the Instagram coverage of the epic adventure that the was. A truly grand journey completed in 6 Days and 4 hours by a group of outstanding people.
We suspect that might be the Master's Age Group for Rodney Long who celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this year 😜 👏

An unprecedented Xtrail远征探索 offer of paid flights and entry into the Expedition Altay ARWS - Adventure Racing World Series race for youth teams was too much to resist... The race was held in the furthest north corner of China between Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia - an area that until very recently has been closed to outsiders.

Together with Julian Atkinson and Andrew Houston, and with support from Best 4 Sports, Robyn & Michael formed Team Best 4 Sports SA to take advantage of the fantastic opportunity.

Looking across from the Wemmershoek range at Du Toitskloof peak.
If it wasn't for the drought we're sure these high grassy areas would be wetlands filled with life. There'd be scattered tarns providing dreamy reflections; and a chorus of birds and frogs in the background.
The barren silence has it's own beauty of course, but we could feel the mountain's yearning for rain.

Really looking forward to next weekend's "Introduction to Scrambling" workshop in conjunction with .

This 2 day workshop is aimed at trail runners wanting to expand into the slightly more technical and exciting world of scrambling.

Saturday is all about preparation for Sunday's blast up Kloof Corner Ridge. We will be discussing safety, route interpretation and selection, gear and more. Then it's practice, practice, practice of the key skills to make Sunday's outing safe and enjoyable for all.

Simonsberg stands proudly separate from the Jonkershoek Valley. The route is interesting, the views from the summit are spectacular, and the finish is at one of the best restaurant / wine farms in the country - what more could you ask for?
