COVID-19 REGULATIONS FOR SOUTH AFRICA

Travelers intending to visit South Africa must produce a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test not older than 72 hours on departure from the country of origin to South Africa and on returning home, irrespective of being vaccinated or not.

A letter from your outfitter is required to serve as proof of address while staying in SA should you need to be contacted by the authorities.

Face masks are mandatory in South Africa and must be worn at all times while in public spaces.

Upon departure from SA a COVID-19 test must be conducted by a laboratory, for example, Lancet / Du Buisson / Ampath (72 hours before departure). Your outfitter should assist with getting this test done before your departure

Results are normally available within 24hours and must be confirmed by the relevant laboratory. PHASA suggests the outfitter’s contact details (email address & cell number) be made available to the laboratory for the results to be send via text message/email. The client should keep the printed result as most airports require this in a hard copy.

Two (2) days prior to departure you will have to complete a health questionnaire, which can be obtained from:
https://sa-covid-19-travel.info/

Upon arrival at your destination, you will be screened for any COVID-19 symptoms. In the unlikely event of testing positive on the way home, you’ll be expected to quarantine for ten (10) days at a designated location at your own cost.

Please make sure the airline you want to travel with is still flying to South Africa – contact them, especially before making any payments.
