About this morning...

I couldn't sleep again last night, so this morning I took a peep outside to see what the sky was looking like. I could see moon hanging delicately above the ocean.

Normally when the sky is clear, there is this incredible red glow which happens around 40 minutes before the sun rises. I thought it a perfect opportunity to capture the waning gibbous moon, the blue of the Pier and the buildings of Umhlanga, as well as the red glow of the approaching sun.

The air had a slight chill to it. The salty ocean seemed calm as it went about its business. Slowly the red started spilling into the clear skies. The moon glowing proudly, and a few stars poking through the early morning sky. The colours of the night sky, the pier and buildings, and the red glow mixed like a massive water colour painting across the sky and ocean. It was spectacular. It only lasted a few moments, as the glow of the sun overpowered the dark of the night. But, for that brief moment, the night and the day enjoyed a beautiful dance together under the moon...

I took a few photos but I thought I'd share this one so long. I hope you like it.

uMhlanga main beach open from today! 🙌

Having received the latest water quality results, eThekwini Municipality has taken a decision to open some of its beaches today.

This comes after recent water tests indicated that E-Coli levels were within acceptable standards. The public can now enjoy bathing and other sporting activities in these beaches.

The following beaches are open in uMhlanga: uMhlanga Rocks and Bronze Beach

uMhlanga Rocks Lighthouse beach remains closed for swimming but are open for religious and spiritual rituals, walking dogs and fishing purposes.

The City will continue to monitor the rest of the beaches and inform the public once levels of E-Coli have decreased to standards that are safe for the public to enjoy it.
