Happy Heritage Day.

It’s been a hard 4 days of work at Penwarn Farm Lodge. Due to the heavy snow we have been without power since Saturday. In true South African spirit our staff have gone out of their way to ensure our guests are as comfortable as possible. Hand washing towels, boiling water for washing dishes, moving gas heaters, waking up early to turn on generators and going to bed late turning off generators. We have had 45 people at Penwarn during this time and it’s been a challenge but you wouldn’t think so with the smiles on the staffs faces.

I just want to say a big thank you to them all as Penwarn would not work without them. And thank you to our guests who have been very accommodating.

Mthini sleeps 8 adults and 3 children in four bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.

Room Layout:
Room 1: king bed with bath and shower
Room 2: two 3/4 beds and a day bed for child with bath and shower
Room 3: king bed with a day bed with shower
Room 4: king bed with a day bed for a child with shower

Each room has their own bathroom, fireplace and all beds have electric blankets.

Living Area:
Large open plan kitchen, living and dinning area.
Kitchen has a large fridge and free standing freezer.
Living area has TV with Selected DSTV channels, lovely L-Shape couch and fireplace.

Outdoor Living Space:
Huge patio overlooking the dam.
Outdoor dining table and chairs, fire pit and outdoor braai.

Linen, bath towels and daily cleaning are included. As well as the use of our beautiful farm for hikes, runs, swimming and kayaking.

Emergency lights for load shedding are provided.

Penwarn Farm Lodge

Penwarn Farm Lodge, a farm escape in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, just 25km from the little town of Underberg, South Africa.

Coming down Khyber Pass you will be greeted with the beauty of Penwarn, which lies in a valley surrounded by lakes and boarders with Highlands Farm which was established in 1886. Three Thousand Four Hundred hectares of land is farmed by the fifth generation of Nicholson’s, raising cattle and sheep and planting maize and potatoes for the market.

Sharing the grasslands are Zebra, Hartebeest and Blesbok. Bird life is of abundance and the cranes and wild geese can be seen from the luxury of your accommodation.

The ambiance of the farm is relaxed, comfortable and modern. If you are looking for an escape whether it be a wedding, business conference, family adventure, or a romantic retreat then Penwarn is the ideal place for you.
