faris has an excess of 100 000 acres of pristine land and offers about 25 game species to hunt. Hunts are mainly done by means of walk and stalk and we only make use of ethical hunting techniques. We believe in fair chase of wild animals. Having hunted for various outfitters in the past we strive to make every hunters time with us as memorable as possible and meet their needs as much as we possibly can. Trophy hunts are tailor made to suit the hunter’s preferences and budget. Hunts are exclusive to you and you only. Each hunt is planned and conducted to give the hunter the opportunity to test his or her skills against some of our prime game animals. The hunting terrain starts along the coast of the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Here the vegetation is thick coastal bushveld with rolling valleys and open plains. The hunting areas extends up into the northern parts of the Eastern Cape where the mountainous areas of the Karoo will test any hunters ability and skill, but does make for a very satisfying hunt at the end of the day. In a seven to ten day hunt we offer the hunter to see more of the Eastern Cape by offering them the chance to hunt a Coastal Concession as well as one of the Northern Concessions. We strive to offer world class affordable hunting.

We left early this morning to go look for Kudu. It had rained a bit through the night and it was a cloudy start to the morning.

We walked down a steep valley through some Euphorbia thickets, watching our footing for the loose rocks and difficult terrain to get to a spot we favour. In the distance over a 1000 yards away, we spotted a big Kudu bull, a young bull and some Kudu cows. These bulls were in a similar area to where we saw the big bull from yesterday. We remembered some unique features, their horn shapes of those bulls and it seemed these were the exact same bulls we had stalked.

We started walking further down the valley in the direction of these Kudu bulls. The next minute, the bulls started moving off quickly and no longer feeding. Fortunately, they were moving towards our direction. Across the valley from us were a different group of Kudu cows. We were in luck, after some time, the young bull popped out across the valley from us to where those cows were. He swiftly moved past them and disappeared. No sign of the big bull. We waited patiently and glassed the slope carefully. After about 10 or so minutes, Zulu, our tracker, spotted the big bull and he was walking the same path as the young bull.

We got set up and the bull stopped perfectly broadside in a clearing at 345 yards away. A good first shot was made, the bull jumped and moved downwards and stopped. We decided to take a back-up shot as he was still standing. Now facing us straight on at 300 yards, an incredible shot was made. His head dropped, the bull swayed to the side and was down. What an incredible shot and hunt!

We moved down to the coast for the last stretch of the hunting safari with our Canadian clients. With the weather conditions not being favourable, we still went out trying our luck.

After some morning's rain, we were out looking for Kudu and Warthog. We spotted a nice, big Warthog boar. We moved towards that area, walked and stalked a short distance, heard some Warthogs squealing in the distance, making the big boar wary of his surroundings. We crept closer and a perfect shot was made.

Late that afternoon, we were out looking for Kudu. We spotted several and then saw a beautiful big bull in the distance. We walked down to that area, being cautious of all the Kudu along the way that we needed to sneak past. We got to the area where we saw him last and he was gone. Walked slowly back in the direction we came from and the next minute, we spotted him. He was above us in a thick spekboom thicket, but could only see his head and neck, making it difficult to see him and more so to make a perfect shot. He ran off and we were out of light. Headed back to the lodge and will try again tomorrow for Kudu.

Our last hunting day in the Karoo, for the year, started off with a lot of mist in the morning. Once the mist had cleared, we headed to an area where we had previously seen a beautiful Lechwe Bull.

Luck was on our side, we spotted a group of Lechwe females in a small riverine valley. To the side of them, there were two bulls chasing each other and driving each other further away from the females. We quickly repositioned and stalked in for a better approach. A bull was selected and a perfect shot was made.

Headed back to the lodge for some lunch and we set out again in the afternoon. There are plenty of baby Springbuck and Gemsbuck around and so wonderful to see.

In a shallow valley, we spotted a beautiful black Springbuck ram with some common ones. We stalked slowly along the ridge of the valley, glassing as we went. Got set up and a perfect 240-yard shot was made on a beautiful Black Springbuck.

This year, the Karoo Concession has produced some fantastic animals and we look forward to returning early next year again.

We went out early the morning in search of the sneaky, clever Waterbuck bull that got away from us yesterday. We spotted him with some females. A short stalk and the females came out just where we thought they would, except the bull was no longer following them. He turned and went the complete opposite direction, sticking to the thick Acacia trees again. Just like that, he was gone once again and within seconds, he was 600 yards away and moving quickly.

We decided to leave him and went to a completely different area in search of some other Waterbuck. While looking at some Eland bulls through our binos, the next minute, a big Waterbuck bull stood up around 160 yards near to us. A quick short stalk and a perfect shot. The beautiful big Waterbuck bull was down and the curse was gone.

We started our last hunting safari for the year with clients from Canada.

The first day, we had some superb weather and a brilliant frontal shot made on a Blue Wildebeest. The afternoon, we were out looking for Waterbuck. Plenty of young bulls were spotted and then we saw a magnificent bull. A short stalk, but the big Waterbuck bull was extremely sneaky and stuck to some thick Acacia trees. Hope we find him again tomorrow....

Yesterday was the last day of this hunting safari at our Mountain Concession, it was a great day!

The morning, we were out looking for Mountain Reedbuck and Warthog. In the distance, we spotted a Warthog and started our approach. We got in range and a perfect shot was made on the management Warthog.

With the morning heating up quite a lot, we decided to head back to the lodge for some brunch and a little siesta.

The afternoon, we walked up a deep erosion canyon to where we had spotted some Mountain Reedbuck. As we came out, they had moved from where we last saw them. We readjusted and spotted the big Mountain Reedbuck male bedded down under a big rock along the mountain slope. As we got onto the sticks, he jumped up and gave a few seconds for a perfect shot to be made.

What a way to end the hunt with a beautiful, thick, old Mountain Reedbuck ram. We look forward to hunting with this client again when he returns in May next year!

The last two days, we have been hunting hard in search of Kudu. The one morning, a farm worker spotted a Caracal and it went into a small bush. He radioed, kept his distance and we quickly made our way to him, knowing that our client wanted to hunt one. Luckily, the Caracal was still hiding in that bush and a perfect shot was made. We only saw Kudu cows on that day, the bulls were all in hiding.

The next morning, we were at it again in search of Kudu. While out and about, we came across some Baboons and a perfect long-distance shot was made.

We saw plenty of Kudu, but mostly all young bulls. So we decided to call it a day and rather go out looking for Vaal Rhebuck. We moved to a different area.

After some climbing up a mountain, we spotted some Vaal Rhebuck. We were finally in luck. We leopard-crawled to get into position and a great shot was made.

That afternoon, we spotted some Springbuck. We stalked through some big rocks on a mountain top and came out in the perfect spot. Two brilliant shots were made on two management Springbuck.

A Blesbuck Kind Of Day!

We were out looking for a White Blesbuck and a Common Blesbuck. In the distance, we spotted a big group of White Bleabuck. After a few back and forths on a large open plain, we set up and the plan worked perfectly. A great shot and a beautiful White Blesbuck ram was down.

We looked over plenty of Common Blesbuck, we spotted a beautiful mature ram. We got in range and he was down. We saw another herd with a magnificent ram in that we could not pass up. A perfect shot was made on a spectacular Blesbuck.

What a day!

We are on a hunting safari at our Mountain Concession. With the main focus on a specific Steenbuck that we have been watching and eyeing out for a while now.

The morning started off very misty and could not see 20 yards ahead of us. We waited patiently for the sun's rays to sneak through and burn off the mist.

We glassed all the usual spots where we had seen the specific Steenbuck previously, but no luck. We then decided to climb up a big mountain in search of Vaal Rhebuck.

Once we were on the top, we spotted a Steenbuck and he was big. Not the one we were after, but he was worth the climb up the huge mountain. A quick stalk behind him and a perfect shot was made.

Lauren and the client went out looking for some management game. After some stalks and good setups, great shots were made on a Warthog and a Springbuck.

Later that afternoon at last light, we spotted another very impressive Steenbuck and the client made a perfect shot.

The quality and quantity of Steenbuck at the Mountain Concession is incredible!

A beautiful animal to end the hunting safari! The weather on the last hunting day was very windy with a cold chill. Rain was forecasted for the afternoon. We were out looking for Black Impala and Golden Wildebeest. The Impala were hiding in thick brush and we were struggling to see them.

We spotted a Golden Wildbeest bull, the sun was starting to warm the morning up even though the clouds were slowly moving in from the East, so we started our approach. Blesbuck spotted us and took off, taking the Wildebeest with them. They ran a short distance and we readjusted. We got in range and Larry made a perfect shot.

What a way to end the hunt! We thoroughly enjoyed hunting with Larry and Kathy. We look forward to their return.

We have been hunting hard the last few days in search of Blue Duiker. A lot of patience, sitting deadstill for long periods of time at different spots, hoping for the elusive Blue Duiker to walk near us. The last morning attempt, we were lucky and some popped out. With a quick draw and fast reaction, Larry made a shot with a 12 Guage shotgun, but the pellets went over the top. That's hunting for you!

We were out the afternoon and spotted some Warthog. A walk and stalk in their direction and Larry had the management boar in his scope. A great shot and he was down.

That evening, shortly after dinner, we got a call to say the Bushpigs had come into the bait site. A quick drive, slow and steady walk and then nothing. We sat waiting for a while and still nothing. We decided to leave and as we got to the bakkie, a notification came in. The pigs were at the bait, feeding. A quiet stalk back and the Bushpigs were still there. A perfect shot and Larry had two pigs in one day!
