We all love a great ! So I simply must share this one — as it truly was one for the books! 🤩

Some moons ago, we hopped on over to Rhumerie de Chamarel. Have you heard of it? Now you have! It’s one of the most beautiful factories in the world, and we’re not even joking. 🌴

It’s situated in the south west part of Mauritius, in the vicinity of the “Coloured Earths of Chamarel” and in the heart of a fertile valley with vast plantations of sugar cane, pineapples and other tropical fruits. 🍍

This distillery was of course created to produce some pretty fine rum, and it didn’t disappoint. You can take a guided tour to learn about the rum making process, the rum tasting process, the different rums they make and end your tour with a lovely lunch there too! 🍴

Welcome to 2024!! May it be a year filled with hard work, fun and lots of happy travel-filled memories!

One of the first questions we get asked is when is the best time of year to travel to Mauritius so here are our thoughts to help you get your year planned.😎

Mauritius has the most FANTASTIC weather, even during the wet season! ☀️

Meaning whenever you decide to go, be it during the school holidays, May, August or December — you’re in for a real tropical treat.

BUT … since we don’t actually control the weather (even though we wish we did 🧙), let’s break it down real quick:

➜ Coastal areas are warmer than non-coastal areas.
🌴 The north and west coasts are warmer than the south and east coasts.
➜ May to December gets the popular vote for being the best time to go.
🌴 The wet season brings rain, but a couple of kms away, the sun may actually still be out. So remember to pack your sunscreen!
➜ The cyclone season ( Dec to April) brings storms that tend to miss the Mauritian islands.
🌴 If you’ve always wanted a Marilyn Monroe moment, then July and August is the perfect time to have one. 💁‍♀️
➜ Winter is anything but a brrr brrr situation, as temperatures range between 20°C – 24°C; and is a great time for surfing and water sport enthusiasts to visit this island's shores.
🌴 And of course summer temperatures range between 20°C to 30°C. Enough said. 🍹
