10 Fun Facts About Great White Sharks

Great white sharks are the largest predatory fish in the ocean, with an average length of 15 feet (4.6 meters) and weight of 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms).

They have a lifespan of up to 70 years, and females tend to live longer than males.

Great white sharks can swim at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour (56 kilometers per hour).

They are warm-blooded, which means they can regulate their body temperature.

Great white sharks have an incredible sense of smell, and can detect a drop of blood in 25 gallons (100 liters) of water.

They have rows of sharp teeth that can number up to 300 at any given time.

Great white sharks are found in all major oceans, but are most commonly spotted off the coasts of California, South Africa, and Australia.

They are apex predators, meaning they are at the top of the food chain and have no natural predators.

Great white sharks are not typically a threat to humans, and most attacks on humans are believed to be cases of mistaken identity.

Despite their reputation as fearsome predators, great white sharks are actually quite intelligent and are capable of learning from experience.

Fatal Great White Shark encounter decapitates ho**ah diver in Mexico. Although this is extremely intense & very unfortunate, please remember these type of encounters are rare & the exception to the rule. If sharks were truly out to get us & developed a taste for human flesh then fatal encounters would happen every single day, yet they don’t…

It’s also important to note that local divers had been warned about the presence of sharks in the area and most divers had not been out for several days. Sometimes if you ignore the warnings, the risks can outweigh the rewards…

At the end of the day, sharks live in the ocean, it’s their home & hunting ground. Anytime you enter the ocean you must accept the risks that it brings. In the purest form, sharks are predators & we are protein & sometimes they bite first & ask questions later…

Zambezi Shark as a Tourist Attraction?

The Zambezi shark (Carcharhinus leucas), also known as the bull shark or the Zambezi river shark, is a species of shark that is native to the rivers and estuaries of southern Africa. It is known for its ability to thrive in freshwater environments, and has been known to travel far inland in search of food.

In some parts of southern Africa, the Zambezi shark is considered a tourist attraction, and is sometimes featured in organized shark-diving or shark-watching tours. These tours may take place in coastal areas where the sharks are known to occur, or in rivers and estuaries where the sharks are found further inland.

Shark diving and shark watching tours can be a popular tourist activity, as they offer the opportunity for people to observe and learn about these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. However, it is important for these tours to be conducted in a responsible and sustainable manner, in order to minimize any negative impacts on the sharks and their habitats.

It is recommended that tourists interested in shark diving or shark watching tours research the tour operators carefully and choose a reputable company that follows best practices for responsible tourism and conservation. This can help to ensure that the tour is enjoyable and safe for both the tourists and the sharks.

Bucket list item, The sardine run. This the biggest unrivaled annual animal migration in the world, which can be seen from space. My bucket list was going to be one item less. I finally decided, after years of dithering, that I was going to get down and wet and do the sardine run.
