Fixing the unsightly graffiti left by vandals on the Boffors canon at the MOTH memorial in Luna Road. Thank you to Andries van der Heyde, DA Councillor for sponsoring the paint. Your support is always welcome. Will launch a proper restoration paint project at a future date.

Idiotic vandals have spray painted the Boffors canon by the MOTH memorial in Bela Bela. Indicative of their level of education, this stupid act is of very low class and just plain senseless.

Another find on Sunday shed a little more light on our distant past. I was surprised at a couple of graves hiding between some reed grass right next to the Buffelspruit. If it wasn't that the veld had recently burned, they might never have been revealed. The two marked graves are very eroded and it is clear that no one had visited these graves in many years. There appear to be 4 graves, but only two have any readable headstones, and some research have revealed more info - Hendrik Christiaan Marx - born on 4 July 1848 near Rustenburg in the north-western Transvaal, and died 3 June 1903 at Buffelspruit outside Warmbaths (Bela-Bela). Next to him is the grave of his wife Emerentia Petronella Marx (nee Van Heerden) - born on 31 October 1853, and passed away on 7 July 1914. Maybe Bela-Bela Heritage can go clean up these graves sometime...
