The Grillroom is simply nirvana for carnivores. The meat is grain-fed and grass-fed beef, dry or wet aged, and is all aged between 22 and 55 days, before being served to you. There are chicken, seafood and vegetarian options on the menu too.

Airy, understated European elegance epitomises the restaurant’s interior, which is glass fronted to showcase the panoramic views from the vineyards and olive orchards to the blue-hued mountains that encircle Wellington. From their humble beginnings in a coffee shop next door to the eatery, they are thrilled to open our doors in this heritage building of Wellington.

Established in 1876, the shop used to serve as the wagonry for the area to all those needing repairs on their wagons moving north for the gold rush of the time.

They decided to pay homage to where it began and stuck to elements of transport décor in the eatery.

Cole The Eatery has a passion for supporting the local community and endeavour to source ingredients from local farmers, ensuring organic and fresh produce.

Wolvenhoek Vineyards lies at the foot of the luscious green hill, the Groenberg, in Wellington. The family-owned farm is part of the Old Vine Project and boasts 35 to 55 year old vineyards, from which they produce both easy-drinking and premium wines.

The Emerald Hill protects the vines from the wind that howls like a wolf through the mountains and creates a unique cool temperature in the warm terroir of the Wellington area. First proclaimed in 1777, Welgegund Heritage Wine Farm is a family owned, boutique wine farm in the Blouvlei area of Wellington. Its peaceful location offers a sense of seclusion and magnificent views of the dramatic Hawequa mountain peaks that border the farm.

Their vines and the grapes they produce are the very heart of Welgegund. While they give their vines individual attention and nurturing, as much as possible is left to Mother Nature’s expert hand and their minimum intervention ideology begins here. They grow strong, resilient and characterful vines that naturally produce low yields of exceptional quality grapes, full of flavour, colour and intensity and steeped in the influences of their surroundings.

Welgegund’s Certified Heritage Vines are a very special part of their legacy and they are a proud member of the Old Vine Project. Their oldest vineyards are their Chenin Blanc and Cinsault vineyards, both planted in 1974 and their Certified Heritage Carignan vineyard was planted in 1979.

Welbedacht Wine Estate, is owned by the internationally ‘rugby-renowned’ Burger family where all wines are passionately grown, made and bottled.

Upland Organic Estate is a small fruit and wine farm where Edmund and Elsie Oettlé produce small amounts of high quality wines, liqueurs, grappa and brandy, as well as olives, olive oil, fruits and nuts.

The farm is run according to organic farming principles, to ensure the continued health of both the environment and the consumers of our products. Their organic farming techniques have been implemented for the past 28 years, and the farm is internationally certified with Ecocert.

The wines are exceptionally full bodied, bursting with fruity flavours, and are deeply coloured. Each vintage varies according to the gifts and constraints of the season.

They are also the only organic distillery in the country; their spirits being world class medal winners, distilled from small crops of carefully selected cultivars.

Nabygelegen has a very old history of winemaking and the original cellar building dating back to well before its inscribed 1815 gable date has old, open concrete fermenting tanks, stone foot presses, and underground storage tanks. Last used in 1934, they now form part of the barrel maturation room. Full use is being made of the delicately restored massive buttress walls and the deep cool tanks. Many vintages are on display in the bottle stores and the wine library.

The modern winery and fermentation cellar contains state-of-the-art machinery and the most modern of processes from the new and old world. From special grape cooling and sorting techniques to the soft working pumps and presses, everything is designed to get fruit into the bottle with minimum handling.

Originally from French-speaking Switzerland, with a viticultural training reduced to the simplest expression, the Bavaud family decided to become farmers to cultivate quality grapes to produce exceptional wines.

Xavier, Martine and Valentin bought the farm in April 2020 when it was COVID19 and they had to wait until August 27 to be on the farm. The previous owners had already converted the vines into an organic winery. Their objectives are multiple but the main idea remains to produce the wines on the property by becoming the winegrowers and Valentin the oenologist of the smallest entirely organic farm!

No pretension at Lazanou but passion and listening to nature… Good things are the simplest, but simplicity is full of complexity! Sharing their wines is an invitation to relax and escape…

Jacaranda was established in the 1970’s and has been lovingly brought back to life since 2009. With 3,5 ha under vine, it is the smallest registered Wine Estate in South Africa.

At Jacaranda, they believe that wines have a story to tell, the story of the year they were grown in. Did it rain much, was it dry, was it a difficult or an easy vintage… Each aspect is reflected in the aromas, flavours and the soul of our wines.

Because they have a high regard for the ecosystem on the farm, they farm their vineyard sustainably. All w**ds are removed by hand, we do not use any w**d killers and all spraying material and fertilizers used are certified organic.

The cultivars grown are Shiraz, Viognier, Chenin Blanc and Mourvèdre. Jacaranda’s pride is an Old Vine Block of Chenin Blanc, that was planted in 1980.

The lofty location of Doolhof, situated between two mountain ranges right at the top end of the Bovlei Valley, result in a myriad of slopes, soils and aspects and is therefore ideal for producing a variety of wines and wine styles.

Visitors to the Tasting Room will appreciate the understated elegance of the cool, air conditioned, blue, and white interior, the perfect backdrop for their award-winning wines. It is situated in the original wagon house built in the late 19th century. With light flowing in from its large windows and doors, guests are invited to linger a while to taste and purchase their range of superb wines.

Canetsfontein is home to vineyards that live in tandem with nature. Large parts of the farm remain undisturbed and thousands of indigenous plants that are part of the Cape Floral Kingdom thrive here in a unique biodiverse ecosystem of animals, birds and insects.

The farm has a rich history of winemaking and today the farm is a model of modern organic wine farming, producing wines that will linger on your palate and in your memory.

One of the toughest mountain biking trails in the world starts right here on our farm and snakes its way up and along the Hawequa mountain, through pristine fynbos, forests and breath-taking natural beauty. We host regular events and mountain-biking enthusiasts come from far and wide to tackle this awe-inspiring trail.

If you are a wine farmer, the name Bosman Family Vineyards is synonymous with vine cuttings; as a wine consumer, the name signifies unusual, award-winning wines and happy workers; if you are a visitor, Bosman is the dream place to visit - driving through the gates and you are immediately in a lush paradise of large, shady trees, park-like lawns, and gracious Cape Dutch homesteads.

Visiting their Tasting Room, originally part of the 270-year-old cellar, you will be met with a line-up of the expected Cabernet and Chardonnay, wine lovers will be amazed to find varietals new to South Africa, such as the Nero d’Avola; wine made from Old Vines, the Optenhorst Chenin Blanc; and Fides, an orange wine made with white grapes but in an ancient manner which entails fermenting the grapes on the skins with naturally occurring yeasts.

Bosman Family Vineyards has received international acclaim for their work in transformation. As a certified Fairtrade producer, this farm has over decades built up a reputation as a company whose foundations are firmly dedicated to the community and their upliftment.

𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲

Archaeological evidence suggests that the site of Andreas Wine Estate was occupied by the Acheulean people, more than 300,000 years ago.

More recently, the farm was one of the first Huguenot settlements in the valley. The exquisitely appointed Cape Dutch homestead, dating back to 1799, resonates with the historical charm and elegance from this era.

The 4,5 hectares of vineyards yield wines that spend between 12 to 18 months in French Oak barrels, before being allowed a further 24 months to mature in the bottle before release.
