Best of luck to the team at Diemersfontein Wine Estate for !!

🍇 𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 🍇

After months of carefully tending to the vines, the time has come for them to yield their fruit to produce another vintage of Diemersfontein wines!

Today saw the first Pinotage grapes arriving at the cellar and, as is tradition here on the farm, we had a gathering of friends and residents of the estate join us in prayer to bless the harvest.

It's almost that time of year when the air is filled with the drone of tractors and singing in the vineyards as the wine farmers of Wellington embark on harvest 2025.

A forecast from our members predict better yields than 2024, together with the superb quality, synonymous with the wines from our valley.

Many of the wine farms around town are welcoming visitors and hosting events throughout the harvest time – plan a visit to the heart of the Cape Winelands and experience the magic of harvest for yourself!

Good luck with Harvest 2025, team Bosman Family Vineyards!

The 2025 harvest kicks off today, and what better way to start than with a load of … you guessed it … Chenin Blanc! Our cellars are buzzing with anticipation, and our incredible all-women winemaking team is ready to transform this year’s harvest into exceptional wines.

At the helm since the start, is Corlea Fourie, whose thoughtful and innovative approach has been at the heart of our winemaking since the beginning. Maryke Botha ensures the Bosman signature wines shine in the Lelienfontein cellar, while Maria Gant and her team craft the dynamic Generation 8 range at Schoon.

Even though the Tasting Rooms on many of the wine farms in our region welcomes guests within set times, some of these properties may be closed on certain days. There are also some farms that host tastings by appointment only. It's best to visit our Go Wellington website for an overview on the trading hours and contact details in order to plan ahead.

– 𝗕𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 –
The farms of the Wellington Wine Route support responsible alcohol use. Make use of Uber, book a guided Wellington experience or have a designated driver to avoid drinking and driving. It's always better to be safe, rather than sorry...

– 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗹 –
Summer temperatures in Wellington can get quite high. If you're planning to enjoy any of the outdoor activities in the valley, remember pack sunscreen, a sun hat and plenty of water.

– 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄 –
Pace your visit to Wellington in such a way that you make time to stroll around the historic buildings in the center of town - the Wellington Audio Guide (link in bio) is the perfect way to learn about the history of the region. You can also book into one of the many accommodation destinations and extend your visit for a more encompassing experience.

Wellington is known for its award-winning wines, excellent brandy, and South Africa’s only whisky. The area, surrounded by orchards, wine farms, buchu fields, and olive groves, also produces about 85% of South Africa’s vine rootstock.

Wellington was declared a town in 1840; named in honour of Arthur Wellesley, the 1st Duke of Wellington, following his victory against Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo.

It's the time of year when, late afternoon, you can see the man in the mountain looking down towards Wellington from his perch on the mountainside.

Only visible during the equinox, this occurrence is what led the Khoisan inhabitants of the area to name the mountain range 𝗛𝗮𝘄𝗲𝗸𝘄𝗮 – '𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯'.

This is but one of the many things to see, experience, and learn about in our beautiful town.

“Coffee and friends make the perfect blend.”

Coffee is well-known for bringing people together in fellowship. Wellington Coffee Cafe opened their doors in August 2019 to share this experience with the beautiful community of Wellington and surrounds.

They offer a complete range of coffees prepared by trained baristas and serve breakfast and light meals throughout the day. For something sweet, try their selection of freshly baked cakes, muffins, and other sweet treats. They do roosterkoeke on their grill, crispy thin-based pizzas, family-size meals, and picnics on request.
