Guests on game drive with Briggs and Vula-Safaris were treated to a special sighting. They watched a Brown Snake Eagle grab a Tiger Snake out of a hole in a tree. The eagle then flew off into another tree where it sat and enjoyed its meal.

❤️A vocal juvenile Southern Ground Hornbill❤️

The southern ground hornbill (Bucorvus leadbeateri) is classified as an endangered species within South Africa.

Here are some interesting facts about these gorgeous birds:
✨ Ground hornbills call together before dawn in a chorus of repeated low grunting sounds. They amplify their calls by inflating the big, red, balloon-like wattle below their bill.
✨ Small animals need to lie low when a party of ground hornbills is out foraging because these omnivores snap up anything – from insects and lizards to small birds, rodents, tortoises, and snakes as big as puff adders.
✨ Ground hornbills are very slow breeders and, as a result, a pair produces just one brood of two chicks every nine years, only one of which survives. Immature birds within the social group work as ‘helpers’, caring for the single chick.
✨ Ground hornbills have lived up to 70 years in captivity. This makes them one of the world’s longest-lived birds.

✨️Beautiful bush life✨️

What do we have here?
- Impala, Zebra and Wildebeest.

But why are they all together?
- There are a few reasons why we find these animals together. They have a mutualistic relationship. These animals all eat together eating different lengths of grass. Wildebeest eat longer grass while zebras eat shorter grass. But most importantly these animals are together because there is strength and safety in numbers.

Come and explore the wonders and beauty of nature with us!

Let's talk about the Plains Zebra:
🦓 each Zebra has its own unique pattern, just like our fingerprints.
🦓 the patterns on either side of the Zebra are NOT identical.
🦓 Zebra are black with white stripes, in the womb, unborn foals are completely black, and only get their white stripes at 8months and are then born with their stripes.
🦓 Gestation period of a Zebra is 12 months.
🦓 Zebra belong to the horse family.
🦓 Baby Zebras spend most of their time right next to their mums, this helps them to learn & memorize her patterns, much like a barcode imprinted in the babies brain so mum can be easily recognized by her baby.
🦓 Zebra have an extremely powerful back-kick, strong enough to break a lions jaw.
🦓 Zebra nibble on each other's manes to reinforce social bonds during mutual grooming.
🦓 Zebra are often seen with Wildebeest, this is because there is safety in numbers, they migrate together, and the 2 species have a mutualistic relationship when it comes to eating.
🦓 Collective noun = a dazzle of Zebra

WARNING! NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS. I have witnessed and filmed the many Interactions & Habits of Wild Dogs ( my personal Favourite) in Kruger, from social interactions, going on a hunt, to after a hunt and feeding the Pups ( see previous Videos). This time, timing was right! watched them, witnessed the hunt , and got it!! Right next to us! this is about 30 secs after take down. (Getting my filming head on). Notice how fast they eat, and never argue! ( unlike Lions) most of this young impala is gone within this 4 minute video, 11 minutes and absolutely nothing left, only what the vultures could scrounge. An absolute beast of a predator. One of the most endangered Animals on the planet. Myself & guests were very fortunate to witness this amazing spectacle. Join us with Vula-Safaris - you never know your luck ! Guide - Neil Waitt
