"Sherreen at Pride Lodges was recommended to me by friends in Chicago who grew up in South Africa and know her. I contacted Sherreen and asked her to plan a trip for me and my 2 kids (25 and 22) to South Africa. I wanted to go to Cape Town, wine country (Franschhoek) and then on a Safari. Its a big trip coming all the way from Chicago so I needed a lot of help. I can't even begin to tell you how easy Sherreen made it for me. Once I told her the flights I wanted to take from Chicago, she planned everything. She asked me about my budget, what types of things we like to do, etc. and then she recommended an itinerary. I spent 4 nights in Cape Town, 2 nights in Franschhoek and 4 nights at Kambaku River Sands on a safari. Everything Sherreen planned was perfect and everything went like clockwork. Our guides were great and always on time (in fact early), the hotels were perfect, the places she recommended going were perfect, etc. If you are looking to go anywhere in South Africa, I would highly recommend you get in touch with Sherreen as you will love working with her and she will plan the trip of a lifetime no matter the budget." - Scott

With rough-clad walls, gentle curves and plenty of African charisma, Garonga Safari Camp is a sensuous safari lodge in the Makalali Private Game Reserve outside the Kruger National Park near the Timbavati Game Reserve.

Garonga Safari Camp has tented double rooms and a magnificent thatched suite complete with private pool. All have been lavishly draped in white linen, decorated with an African theme and have en-suite bathrooms, private patios and additional outdoor showers. The living area oozes equal amounts of charm and sophistication with an elevated viewing deck – the scene of many fine meals. And with all this easy grace and elegance wafting about its easy to forget the raison d’etre of Garonga – the wildlife and wilderness experience.

Morning game drives, walking safaris, night drives and a sleep-out tree house offer a gamut of game viewing experiences. Offering a “soul safari” takes some courage, but Garonga pulls it off with aplomb.

Umlani Bushcamp's beautifully designed eco lodge is off the grid and beaten tourist track, offering intimate and thrilling wildlife encounters, award-winning meals and a chance to reconnect with nature in one of Africa’s world-renowned, unspoilt wilderness reserves.

The four double huts with en-suite facilities including an open-air bush shower sleep a maximum of two guests each. The four family huts (with en-suite facilities) each come with a double and two single beds accommodating a family of four. All huts are comfortably fitted with white mosquito nets, crisp white linen and towels as well as with standard bathroom amenities, bottled water (although the tap water is perfectly safe to drink) and insect repellent. The Eco Rondavel has been built to enhance thermal storage qualities, it is lovely and warm when cold outside and much cooler when hot outside. Same “close to nature” experience with outdoor shower and bathroom but with a few extra luxuries. Two guests can be accommodated in the Eco Rondavel.

Overlooking the Sand River, Kirkman’s Camp has spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness as far as the eye can see. Kirkman’s Camp is a historic and famous camp which was originally built in the early 1920’s. The colonial atmosphere of gracious style and luxury has been retained, and one steps back in time upon entering the old homestead, which now serves as the recreational hub of the camp. The large lounge, decorated in 1920 style, leads through double French doors onto rolling lawns that provide a velvety contrast to the wild and tumbling bush surrounding the camp.

Kirkman’s Camp consists of eighteen guest cottages with private verandas offering magnificent views of the surrounding bush The cottages all have en-suite bathrooms with showers, and true to the olden day feel – feature ball and claw baths. Air-conditioning and ceiling fans provide welcome relief from the heat of the African Sun. Breakfast and lunch are either served in the main house, or on the shady verandas. Dinner is a very special event taken under the stars in the boma around a campfire.

Makanyi is located in the Timbavati, which has been dubbed as “The Place Where Something Sacred Came Down to Earth”. Indeed, Makanyi Lodge itself is a heavenly place and, what’s more, it couldn’t be better located. The Timbavati is an area of prime game viewing, home to the “Big Five” as well as the infamous, albeit elusive, White Lions. The lodge is in the Greater Kruger National Park, an area of over 2.4 million hectares in which animals roam freely and, being one of very few commercial lodges in this area, it is a truly wild and private experience.
