Go 2 Wilderness

Go 2 Wilderness Promoting Wilderness as a holiday destination. Unique hiking trails and activities. spa's health Wilderness is a charming holiday village.

With its long golden beaches, extensive waterways and lush indigenous forest, it is a nature loverโ€™s paradise. Wilderness lies 15 km east of George, nestled between the Outeniqua Mountains and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and is an ideal base from which to explore the world-famous Garden Route. As far back as the late 1800s the reputation of Wilderness was established as an ideal destinatio

n for seaside holidays. A seaside boarding house was started in an old homestead โˆ’ and so began the tradition of hospitality which has made this small resort town world famous. The winter climate is splendid with sunny days and temperatures that rarely drop below 8ยฐC. The annual rainfall averages around 700mm, spread all year round, meaning that the winters are as warm and sunny as the summertime. The balmy weather creates an outdoor style of living that draws locals and visitors alike to the long stretches of sandy white beaches throughout the year. Should you wish to venture off the beach, there is a wide variety of eateries, craft stalls, shops and art galleries to explore. Wander through the quiet forest where giant Yellowwood trees rise towards the skyline, follow Bushbuck and Duiker along quiet forest paths or watch out for the brilliant flash of crimson as a Knysna Lourie is startled from its resting place. Wilderness not only overlooks the sea, but also the placid lagoon (Touw River Estuary), the Serpentine, which meanders between the Touw River, Island Lake and Rondevlei. This is a favourite venue for waterskiing and attracts enthusiasts from far and wide. Recreational activities in Wilderness include hiking, mountain-biking, bird- and whale-watching, hang- and paragliding, horse riding, scenic drives, day tours, angling, boating and other water sports. Wilderness is a small town on the South Coast of South Africa. +-15km from George, +-30km from George Airport, +-7km from breathtaking Hoekwil, +-50km from popular Mosselbay and +-40km from exclusive Knysna, this little beach town is a must stay destination when visiting the South Coast. You can expect a beautiful long beach, lots of outdoor activity such as canoeing, hiking, surfing, mountain biking, quading and lots of peace and quiet!

The Kaaimans. 13 October. The first documented crossing was that of Ensign Beutler on 13 October 1752, during a scouting expedition.

This view is definitely one that captures a lifetime's of memories, happenings, and history.
The Outeniqua train bridge is the first iconic sight from above. Nobody misses this bridge as they pass from George to Wilderness. Back in 1985, I spent time at the Women's College in George, and I remember the Kaaimans highway was still being built. I think the N2 was opened in 1986 (I'm not sure)

All the more reason to drink kombucha!

This is because, as a fermented tea, it introduces countless good bacteria to your gut, thereby boosting your overall wellbeing.
