As a newbie, things can get pretty overwhelming pretty quickly.
There’s a lot of theory, significant doses of adrenalin, nerves, and excitement to contend with - and just a little respectful fear that needs to be balanced and managed, until at last muscle memory kicks in and it all becomes much like driving a car.
With all that in mind, there are 2 really important steps in the progressive paragliding learning curve: 1. Ground-handling. And 2. Tandem Training sessions.
Like ground-handling, inflight training is invaluable.
With the former, you learn the subtle art of control of the wing. You feel each other out, learn how your wing moves, how you need to move - you learn to dance together. 💃🪂
Once you have a few flights under your belt, the fine-tuning starts. Tandem is the best place to address repetitive errors, hook points and merging bad habits.
You get to feel how the wing should move, and what to do, when - all under 'adult-supervision', while in the air. And you get just a little inspired, by what is possible - and what you are becoming - a pilot 😁❤️🪂

To earn this rating, the requirements are straightforward but not easy: 40 Tandem flights, flying with different weights and shall we say levels of co-operation and experience, a Tandem exam, and a first-aid certificate.
