(1)

Our mission is to provide:

A simple, cost effective and flexible service to make your family life and leisure time safer. The service will be driven by the requirements of the users and all suggestions are welcome

Description

SafeGroup - incorporating SailSafe, TripSafe and FamilySafe - is the brainchild of Capt. Al Viljoen and was initially created to assist in providing safety measures for se

a-goers and fishermen. However, with the high crime rate in SA, this has been extended to cover Personal safety and Travel Safety as well. OBJECTIVES

Family Safety:

That any alert is responded to immediately and help is directed to the person in distress
That contact is maintained until the person is located. Travel Safety:

That any alert is responded to immediately, cutting down valuable reaction time. That accidents during leisure activities are responded to quickly by the correct bodies. A trip planning system which will give an alarm if you do not return at your planned time. This is available to use if travelling in areas where there are no communications. Sea Safety:

That appropriate action will be taken immediately on receiving an alert. The appropriate authorities contacted and kept updated of the vessels position. Appropriate checks are done to minimise false alarms and the waste of scarce resources.

Homemade fish cakes are definitely way better than shop bought ones and this is our absolute favorite recipe. Delicious.

Ingredients for Filling:

2 large potatoes, peeled and halved
450 grams cod or hake fillets, cubed
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon grated onion
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 egg
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 tsp Italian herbs
½ tsp ground black pepper
1L B-well canola oil

Ingredients for Batter:

2 cups flour
3 tsp paprika normal or smoked
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 tsp Italian herbs
1 ¼ cup milk or water

- Alternatively you could simply use panko crumbs instead of the batter.

Method:

1. Place the potatoes in a large pot of water, bring the water to a boil. Let the potatoes cook until they are almost tender.

2. Add the fish to the pot and let the fish and potatoes cook until they are both soft. Drain well and transfer the potatoes and fish to a large mixing bowl.

3. Add butter, onion, parsley, oregano, paprika, thyme, ground black pepper, salt and egg to the bowl; mash the mixture together. Mold the mixture into small balls.

4. Add all your batter ingredients to a mixing bowl and give everything a good stir, so it's well combined. Add your fish cake balls into the batter mixture insuring they are well coated.

5. In a medium sized pot heat your B-well canola oil to medium-high heat. Transfer your coated fish cake balls to the oil and fry on both sides until golden brown. Drain on paper towels before serving.

Some light-hearted humor to get through the week:

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak.
After the mass, he asked the Monsignor how he had done. The Monsignor replied, “When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.”
Next Sunday the new priest decided to take the monsignor’s advice. At the beginning, he felt nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm.

Upon returning to his office, he found a note on the door that said :
– Sip on the vodka, don’t gulp.
– There are 10 commandments, not 12.
– There are 12 disciples, not 10.
– Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
– Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not “bet his ass.”
– We do not refer to Jesus Christ as “the late J.C.”
– We do not refer to the cross as the “Big T.”
– The Father, Son and Holy Ghost are not referred to as “daddy, junior and the spook.”
– David slew Goliath, he did not “kick the crap out of him.”
– When David was hit by a rock and knocked off his donkey, we do not say that he was “stoned off his ass.”
