Part 2/4 “Game Drive and Short Walking Safari”

Welcome back to our series on one of our most cherished activities. Last week, you were introduced to our team and the beginning of your adventure. But let's be honest, you're here to learn about the wildlife!

Let us provide some background on the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, where your safari will take place. Nestled between the town of Livingstone, farmland, and the Zambezi River, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is one of Zambia's smallest national parks. It spans from the Batoka Gorge and extends approximately 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) along the Zambezi River, just above Victoria Falls. 🌴

This protected sanctuary is free from predators, and its man-made boundaries ensure a stable wildlife population year-round. The park is home to a variety of resident animals, including elephants, white rhinos, giraffes, buffalo, waterbuck, impala, wildebeest, zebra, bushbuck, warthogs, monkeys, baboons, hippos, and crocodiles.🐘🦒🦓

While we can't guarantee sightings of every species mentioned, the park's compact size increases the likelihood of encountering a diverse array of wildlife. So, grab your binoculars and prepare for an unforgettable experience!

Rest assured, refreshments are provided throughout the game drive. We will ensure a plentiful supply of water and have selected scenic spots along the river for picnics with soft drinks and snacks. If you prefer to keep moving while enjoying your snacks, we are fully equipped to accommodate your needs.🧁

When do giraffe 'leave home'? Male calves will leave their mothers from about 15 months and often join all-male groups. The female juveniles, however, often stay in the same herd as their mothers. If they do leave, they leave at about 18 months old and often stay in the same areas as the family herd they grew up in.🦒🦒

“Game Drive and Short Walking Safari” 🌍

At African Safari Experience, we are dedicated to organizing and hosting the most exceptional and personalized trips. We prioritize providing each client with comprehensive animal knowledge, rigorous safety measures, comfortable transportation, and a diverse range of activities. Today, we dive deeper into the Game Drive and Short Walking Safari.

Africa starts its mornings early. Even before dawn, as the sun rises and begins to warm the land, families are already preparing for the day, and the animals are awake to feed, drink, or seek the shelter of shade from the impending heat. Depending on the time of year, we decide the best time to start our safari activities to ensure plenty of animal sightings. Meaning bright and early in the summer and a little later during the winter times.

You will be picked up from your lodge or hotel by one of our highly skilled tour guides, who will greet you with a warm smile. A short drive will bring you to the park entrance, where essential safety measures and regulations will be reviewed. Stay alert, as you may encounter wildlife, including elephants, even before entering the park.

Your tour guide will handle all formalities, including park fees, ensuring a smooth experience. The adventure then begins. Curious about what awaits? Follow our social media channels next week for a preview.

Puku are gregarious animals. What does that mean? 🧐

Females typically gather in herds of up to 20 individuals. They sleep and feed together. During the rainy season, many herds will come together for added safety, typically reaching around 50 females. 🌿🌿

Because.. On the IUCN Red List, the white rhino is classified as near threatened. There are an estimated 10,080 mature individuals left in the world, and their population is decreasing.
