Kafue National Park is home to big herds of Eland; here are 3 interesting facts about “The World’s Largest Antelope”:
⚈ Eland have large ears that serve as signaling devices and both male and females have tightly spiraled, 'V'-shaped horns. They can be up to 123 cm long on males, and 66 cm on females.
⚈Eland are great jumpers, despite their huge size, and can clear a two-metre fence with ease.
⚈ Listen closely and you’ll hear a distinct clicking sound as they approach. This is thought to come from their hooves, which splay apart and click back together under the animals’ great weight.
They have average weight of 400 500 KGs
Eland is one of giant antelopes we have in our parks. By the way how do you call it in your language?
