YELLOW FEVER VACCINATIONS ARE NO LONGER REQUIRED FOR TRAVEL BETWEEN ZAMBIA AND SOUTH AFRICA, THE SOUTH AFRICAN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HAS ANNOUNCED.
02 February 2015

FOLLOWING an announcement at the World Health Assembly in Geneva on Friday 30th January 2015, the Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, removed the requirement for proof of Yellow fever vaccination for travellers between Zambia and South Africa, with effect on the 31st January 2015.

The decision by SA’s health department comes after the World Health Organisation confirmed that Zambia had low yellow fever potential exposure status, which means travellers should not be required to carry a yellow fever vaccination certificate.

A World Health Organization (WHO) review of the risks regarding Yellow fever in northwest Zambia would support the reconsideration of the requirement for Yellow fever vaccination for travellers to and Zambia.
