At the entrance to the camp is the main boma, the central area where we meet, eat, and relax. This spacious platform is completely open at the sides allowing the breeze from the lake to cool the interior. They use both upstairs and downstairs sections for dining and relaxation.

Seven twin bedded, open fronted, en-suite bedroom chalets, raised on Tonga-Style stilted platforms are discreetly spaced along the shoreline - all with spectacular views over Lake Kariba’s panoramic water & sky-scapes.

The camp is unfenced, and wildlife moves freely between the chalets along well used game trails.

THE ROOMS
The spacious room offers superbly comfortable twin beds, a wardrobe, seating area and dressing table. And of course, magnificent views of the lake. At the back of each room at a slightly lower level is the en suite open-air shower, flush toilet and hand basin.
Plenty of running hot water is available from wood fired boilers. They supply toilet rolls, towels, shampoo and so.

THE CAMP
Mukalya Private Game Reserve consists of 9 unique rooms that overlook the mighty Zambezi. The rooms and suites have lots of fresh air within due to the large window openings and sliding doors onto your own private patio with some suites containing open-air baths or showers overlooking the Zambezi River. All rooms and suites have their own lounging space and are overlooking the Zambezi River on our exquisite private stretch.

The oval swimming pool is situated on the edge of the riverbank with outstanding views, under our shady Acacia Tree canopies. The pool has a curved edge seating and pool loungers for those looking for a relaxing spot in the sun.

ACTIVITIES
Mukalya is one of the few reserves in the Lower Zambezi that is able to offer guests a vast range of safe and adventurous experiences from walking safaris in our enclosed game reserve, to a river cruise excursion into the gorge where guests are able to see the Kariba Dam Wall from below and a gigantic rock island which is referred to as the "Nyami Nymai" river god of the Zambezi.

THE CAMP
The Lodge has 9 all thatched chalets all facing the river, 3 of which are standard deluxe chalets, 5 luxury tented chalets and a 3 bedroomed family cottage with self-catering facility. Each chalet has an ensuite bathroom with solar lighting and hot water.
Other amenities include a restaurant with and a fully stocked bar and swimming pool.
