Pombo Safaris is situated on the south/west part of the lower Zambezi river next to Kariba gorge and Kariba dam wall in Siavonga which is three hours drive on the tarred road from the capital city (Lusaka - Zambia) and within easy reach of the border crossings at Chirundu and Kariba.
Pombo safaris is run by a local Zambian [Sailor Hakuulu] someone the local people see as a raw model.
Sailor's story
I’ got influence from a great Zambian man whom was alone, and close to me. He did the foundation about 10 years ago, but then he passed away, and at that time I’ never had time to put into a statue because I’ still had to go to school to become a good tour guide. I’ was at school at Conservation lower Zambezi, and did my field work [Practical] at ‘Chongwe river camp’ for three -and half years, and then at Kota -Kota Game Reserve for one year. For 10 years now people have been waiting to see ‘Sailor’ what’s new. The idea behind is to participate into travel exhibition, and improve tourism in the country [Zambia], and help with economy, and local community in the sense that they are also motivated by the contributions, and products they sell to us. It also feels so natural as part of African culture, the pleassure it brings of being able to communicate with the people across the world by inviting them to the part of our culture which is safari, and get inspired by the tourists for the tours we conduct, and I’ enjoy it very much.
