Another buffalo lost. A special thanks to for the use of the vehicle to attend to this tragedy. A tourist spotted a group of poachers carrying the carcass of a poached buffalo down to the Zambezi river. They alerted the team from who asked us to attend with a tracking dog. We responded with a young dog smoke who took up the track and we discovered the entry point into the park and the scene where the buffalo was snared. Unfortunately the poachers had already crossed back into Zambia. Through collaborations like this with different units we will have greater success. Thanks as always to for always being on scene with us.

Another great success for the canine tracking teams for , and the anti-poaching scouts from . Again as our slogan says, “together as one”.We were wanting to get some of the younger canines some real life training so we found ourselves at first light together with handlers and scouts looking for signs of the illegal harvesting of wood. The guys very quickly identified a track that had left the park the previous evening and Themba was put on the track. The young pup managed to track the wood poacher all the way into the residential neighborhood even after other members of the public had crossed the track that morning. It was a great success for the young canine and a great collaboration of effort for the teams involved.

A great win this morning. One poacher caught using dogs in a protected area. We were doing training at dawn for the tracking dogs and we observed two men hunting with dogs chasing Duiker. When they noticed us the melted back into the bush. We got Bailey onto the tracks with the Take Action handlers while we called for back up and man power. Bailey tracked the two men out of the wildlife area and into the community. Back up was swift to arrive and in a joint effort the team took up the track again with Bailey leading the way. Not far into the community area we made a visual confirmation and in a foot chase the team were able to apprehend one of the suspects. A great team effort.
