The main idea behind Philjen is to try and empathize with long distant travellers who are looking for decent accommodation facilities as they travel along the major highway in Zimbabwe, "The R1 Highway." This highway is undoubtedly the busiest road in Zimbabwe and it passes through Rutenga, Ngundu, Masvingo, Mvuma, Chivhu and stretches past Featherstone and Beatrice before reaching Harare. Our God
father and Founder of Philjen, Innocent Kugarahunzwana Chibaya, who was a frequent traveller of this highway himself, pointed out that there was lack of decent, classy, peaceful and “conveniently-off-the-highway” accommodation complemented with a variety of food and drinks to cater for all the basic needs of a fellow traveller. “If people had a decent place to sleep and dine, nobody would sleep behind the steering wheel on this highway ever again,” he would say wittily. He filed a project proposal to start the construction of Philjen with the other directors who unanimously agreed that this would be a great initiative, and we immediately started working on it. A few years later, we are pleased to announce that we are now in operation and we are progressively working towards the construction of more accommodation units and other facilities to make Philjen Country Lodge the perfect home for you.
