VISIT LAKE KARIBA

Lake Kariba is the world's largest man-made lake and reservoir/Dam by volume. It lies 1300 kilometers upstream from the Indian Ocean, along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Kariba Dam was designed by the French engineer and inventor Andre Coyne. A specialist in “arch dams”, he personally designed over 55 dams, Kariba being one of them. Construction of the dam began on Nov. 6, 1956, and was completed in 1959.
The Kariba Dam is now owned and operated by the Zambezi River Authority, which is jointly and equally owned by Zimbabwe and Zambia.
