Amazing footage of a healthy and large pack of Wild Dogs near Banyene pan in Senuko 3.

Wild Dogs are among some of the most effective of predators in Africa with an impressive 80% success rate when they hunt their prey. To put this into perspective, lions tend to only have a 30% success rate. Wild Dogs can also run up to 70km/hour and live and die for their pack with elders generally malnourishing themselves to ensure pups and younger dogs get enough food.

We love this profound species and feel honoured to witness sights like this in our area!

Here shows footage of a group of over 30 illegal gold panners that were found and apprehended in the Bwazi section of the Mbire South (Dande) concession by our management and Ranger teams on the 16th of June this year. All of their equipment was confiscated.

Illegal goldpanning is threatening to wildlife and communities in a big way and is an ongoing battle through many wildlife areas of Zimbabwe. This destructive activity tarnishes soil profiles and creates soil erosion and river siltation which in turn, affects the water-holding capacities of those streams and rivers.

Gold panning also often works hand-in-hand with illegal poaching so this capture was a great success and one step further into protecting the area. Well done Dande team 👏🏼

Charara : Charara Safari Area

Charara Safari Area is located on the Eastern shore of Lake Kariba. This concession combined with Makuti has proven to be a top hunting destination especially for big leopard and buffalo as the terrain and habitat allows for these species to thrive.

Being on the Zambezi Valley floor, this area has awarded our clients & PHs with record book quality Crocodile and Hippo offering fantastic hunting across the floodplains.

Our Charara fly camp has superb views over these floodplains and our plans are in action to establish a permanent and well-appointed campsite next year. Stay tuned.

We look forward to another great season in 2025!

A brilliant and beautiful sighting of the extremely elusive African Pitta this last Sunday with Derek Adams Birding Safaris Victoria Falls in our Mbire South (Dande) concession.

This bird species has a “shyness and propensity to hide in dense undergrowth” so it is a true feat to find them let alone to capture the moment with such fantastic photographs!

Makuti - Hurungwe Safari Area

Makuti is in the Hurungwe Safari Area which extends eastwards from Kariba town, along the Zambezi River, through Chirundu, to the Mana Pools National Park boundary. Its Northern border is the Zambezi and its Southern border is the escarpment.

This area has some truly spectacular views and a well-appointed camp which offers a great experience whether you're looking for a hunting safari or a convenient stay out of town.

Hunting was a challenge here this year with the dry weather conditions we've been facing countrywide but that didn't stop our Professional Hunters and their clients taking down record-quality Eland, fantastic Warthog and some great Buff too.

We commend our Professional Hunters for their supreme efforts and dedication to their career and clients - thank you for a great season.

Savuli : Savé Valley Conservancy

This treasured area covers an expanse of around 7,000 hectares and is home to the Big Five. Earlier in the year we mobilised our anti-poaching operations by equipping our rangers and area managers with four new motorbikes assisting and elevating efficient and widespread patrols.

Over the course of the year we've installed a fully functional solar power system in our Savuli camp and are continuing to pump water to several waterholes within the concession.

Hunting has been strong here this year and our clients and Professional Hunters have seen a successful season namely for big plains game such as Nyala and Wildebeest but we've seen impressive Buffalo and Elephant trophies come out of this area too.

We're thankful for our teams at headquarters, in camp and on ground who work tirelessly to ensure a smooth and successful safari is carried out for all of our clients!

Murara Camp : Dande - Mbire South Rural District Council

This area has gone from strength to strength with mass improvement in both camp and wilderness. We pump to three permanent watering pans within the concession that supply the majority of our area with water as well as a small private waterhole in camp where small plains game and other animals often come to drink.

We've equipped Murara camp with a fully functional solar power system utilising a cleaner source of energy and keeping our camp quiet.

It's been a superb year of hunting in this area and as always we appreciate our clients support as it helps not only us but the local surrounding communities, environment and anti-poaching efforts.
