Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea. It was devastated by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, forever shaping its rugged landscape. The whitewashed, cubiform houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera (crater). They overlook the sea, small islands to the west and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.

Did you know?

The Victoria Falls National Park is a 1,750 hectare park located on the western tip of Zimbabwe. It was designated a Ramsar Wetland site in 2013 and it extends along the Zambezi river about 6 km above the falls to about 12 km below the falls.
A notable feature of the park is the rainforest which is sustained by the spray of the falls and harbours plant species including ferns, sedges, liana vines, Hairy-leaved Cape fig (Ficus sur), the African Olive (Olea europaea subsp. cuspidata), Natal Mahogany (Trichilia emetica), the Wild Date Palms (Phoenix reclinata), waterboom (Ilex mitis) and Red Milkwood (Sapotaceae). The latter three make up to 80% of trees in the park. The park reportedly holds 10% of the World's black rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis). Malaria is endemic in this region so when visiting take heed lest you go down with the Plasmodium (mostly P.falciparum).

2. It has five UNESCO sites, making it one of the most countries wanting to be visited in Africa.

3. It is home to one of the biggest waterfalls in the world.

4. The world's largest man-made lake is found in Zimbabwe (Lake Kariba )

5. Zimbabwe is one of the top producer of To***co.

6. Zimbabwe's national flower is the flame Lilly

7. Zimbabwe's has the second largest elephant population in the world, after Botswana

8. Zimbabwe has southern Africa’s highest concentration of rock art, and there are thousands of sites all over the country. The rock art was drawn by the inhabitants of the land and it shows their way of life in those ancient times. The oldest of these rock paintings date back 7000 years.

9. The Museum of Natural History in Bulawayo is the 4th largest in Sub-Saharan Africa

10. It is one of the most literate countries in Africa.
