The final day of the 2024 AESATA Conference last Friday was packed with thought-provoking presentations and panel discussions, all centered around building a stronger African travel and tourism sector.

Key topics included:
- Unpacking IATA's Focus on Africa: What’s in it for travel agents, and how they can leverage IATA’s initiatives.
- Going Beyond and Embracing Technology: The importance of adopting new technologies to remain competitive.
-Understanding the Shift to Modern Airline Retailing: Exploring how the industry is changing and what travel agents need to know.
- NDC – Challenge the Limit Beyond Borders: The potential of New Distribution Capability (NDC)everything, including its challenges.
- Liberalization of African Skies: Why this is critical for increasing trade and travel across the continent.
- Increasing Intra-Africa Travel: Tapping into the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to boost regional tourism.
- Conversations with African Airline CEOs: Building stronger African airlines for a more competitive and collaborative industry.

The conference challenged African travel agents to rethink their roles, urging them to establish their own voice beyond reliance on airlines, IATA, and GDSs. The message was clear: it’s time to come together and, in line with the theme, collaborate to go "Beyond Borders, Beyond Limits."
