Fascinating Facts About Harare!

Harare’s name comes from Chief Ne-Harawa, whose name means “He who does not sleep.” Fittingly, this vibrant city is always buzzing with life, making it truly deserving of its nickname as the city that never sleeps!

Harare wasn’t always Harare! During the colonial era in the late 1800s, the city was called Fort Salisbury in honor of the British Prime Minister, Lord Salisbury. It wasn’t until Zimbabwe gained independence in 1980 that it was renamed Harare, reclaiming its African heritage.

Harare’s rich history and cultural roots make it a fascinating destination to explore.
