SPOTLIGHT ON: HWANGE MAIN CAMP
Hwange Main Camp is probably the best known camp in the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. It is located close to the main entrance in the southern part of the park and can easily be reached via a tarred road from Bulawayo.
Guests have a choice between self-catering lodges, chalets and cottages and a camping and caravan site. The lodges are en-suite and have a fully equipped kitchen. Electric hot plates are provided in a thatched communal area. The fridges are also for communal use. The chalets have a veranda and also has communal ablution facilities. These units come equipped with a kitchen and fridge.
Piped water is available in the camping and caravan site and wood and charcoal is available on request.
Facilities include: a restaurant and bar; grocery shop; fuel station; curio shop; conference facilities.
The accommodation may be basic, but the surrounding area provides for excellent game viewing. Many waterholes for thirsty animals, like the Ngwesha Pan and Dom waterhole, dot the area. The Nyamandhlovu Platform is well-known for great game viewing.
