She has since lived and thrived at Musango, having around 16 young in her lifetime!

🦏On this , we celebrate the remarkable recovery of southern African rhinos. 🦏

Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, black and white rhino populations are slowly rebounding, with thousands thriving in protected areas and community-led reserves. Anti-poaching initiatives, increased security, and rhino relocation programs are making a real difference. While the fight isn’t over, every step brings us closer to securing their future. Let’s continue supporting these vital programs to ensure that rhinos not only survive but flourish for generations to come!

Ferganoceratodus edwardsi

We are so proud of Steve! Officially a fossil! 🦴

“The fossil lungfish Ferganoceratodus edwardsi has been named in honour of Steve Edwards, a safari guide and amateur fossil hunter in northern Zimbabwe. With Steve having played an important role in the discovery of a phytosaur, a new dinosaur and now a fish, the team of palaeontologists thought it was only right to highlight his contribution.

Professor Paul Barrett, a co-author of the research from the Natural History Museum, says, “Steve is an important force for palaeontology, having discovered several Late Triassic sites in southern Africa.”

“This is a time in history when the rise of the dinosaurs was starting, and bony fish were diversifying. By sharing his discoveries, Steve is helping us to better understand this important moment in evolution.”

The team hope to return to the region with Steve in the coming years, confident that there are many more fossils, and new species, left to find. “
