Yesterday we took a quick visit to the wonderful waterfall that Victoria Falls City is famous for - just so we could give you a firsthand update on what is happening down there.

Had the most AMAZING day canoeing the Zambezi with our fantastic guides. This was definitely one of my favourite activities I did while in Vic Falls and I would recommend anyone thinking of it to just go ahead and book - you won’t regret it!
We saw wildlife before the canoeing even started during our drive through the national park, and ended with a beautiful sunset lunch next to a herd of elephants - what a “pinch me” moment!
Thank you to Prince and the team for sharing their knowledge, making us feel safe and for being such good fun 😊
I would also recommend getting the photos taken by the amazing photographer - it was so nice to be in the moment without worrying about capturing it ourselves. We now have a virtual album of memories to last a lifetime.

Have you ever seen a painted dog (Lycoan pictus)

These beautiful animals are also known as African wild dogs or Cape hunting dogs, and they are the largest wild canines in Africa. They have a unique coat pattern that makes them look like they have been painted by an artist. Sadly, they are also one of the most endangered mammals in the world, with only about 6,600 adults left in the wild.

But there is hope! Recently, a pack of painted dogs was spotted in the Zambezi national Park, after being absent.

The Victoria Falls Bridge is a magnificent landmark that spans the Zambezi River just below the Victoria Falls and is built over the Second Gorge of the falls.

It links Zimbabwe and Zambia and has border posts on the approaches to both ends, at the towns of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, and Livingstone, Zambia.

The bridge was the brainchild of Cecil Rhodes, part of his grand and unfulfilled Cape to Cairo railway scheme. Rhodes instructed the engineers to “build the bridge across the Zambezi where the trains, as they pass, will catch the spray of the Falls”.It was designed by George Andrew Hobson of consultants Sir Douglas Fox and Partners.

The bridge was prefabricated in England by the Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company before being shipped to Mozambique and then transported on the newly constructed railway to Victoria Falls. It took just 14 months to construct and was completed in 1905.

The bridge is 198 metres long, with a main arch spanning 156.50 metres, at a height of 128 metres above the lower water mark of the river in the gorge below. It carries a road, railway and footway.
