On Tuesday Lexi and I decided last minute to dash to Kazuma Pan before the rains really kicked in.. some seriously good Daddy Daughter time. The platform is fantastic and huge credit to Kiggen construction and Andrew Brown for building and maintaining the platform. It was the first time to Kazuma for me. The wild life is epic. Lots and lots of plains game, Buffalo and elephant. Jackal, and abundant bird life at the pan. I think the winds kept the cats at bay! Having left our pot we had to cook the noodles in a beer can.. what a great little over night experiance.

Then the rains came that night. Luckily we managed to get out!

Earlier this year I had an amazing opportunity to accompany some client friends of mine and go on a walking safari with Adam and francie from Inzila Safaris. Adam is a top notch guide with a quick wit to boot. His attention to detail is incredible and his camp set up is very unique. Its easy to use the word authentic, however Inzila Safari's oozes authenticity and I love the whole style.

If you would like to go on a Walking safari with Adam, please get in contact at [email protected] I may even accompany you and come and we can all cook up a feast all whilst sitting under the African night sky!

It’s pub food at The Small House!

After left after an amazing 4 years of amazing food at the BC I have taken over the batten. With big shoes to fill, mistakes made and a homemade wood braai we are slowly but surely getting the menu right..

It’s a foodie thing!

Travels with The Safari Butler,

Gosh Zimbabwe is a magnificent country to explore and adventure in.. The real amazing and interesting thing is that this country divides itself into such a unique diversity of landscape, fauna and flora and wow does our little country pack a punch! Rugged terrain and harsh Savannah to Highlands, into Lowlands and then back into Highlands. Rivers that run forever in the wet season yet come to a sandy standstill in the dry season. Valleys, that are so green in the rainy season yet unrecognizable in the dry season. Baobabs abound in certain parts, forests of acacia in others. Fir trees to the east. Mopani to the west.

To the wildest of remote area’s that can really invoke serious excitement yet a bullish anxiety all mixed into one. Rocky roads that make travelling so precious, as there is no possible way to race through time. Instead, you get this incredible opportunity to look and feel and see real Africa. No cell phone signal, No emails, no pressures, just you, your family or friends and the wildness of this glorious place.

Through my travels around Zimbabwe, I have had the fortune of seeing the magnificent mountains of the eastern highlands. Anyone who’s been there can genuinely believe that they are in Scotland, or similar. I always thought that mountains as such belonged only in the Eastern Highlands. Until, along with my mate (Kev Louw, my amazing Guide), we ventured to a world I knew very little of. I had heard of the pub tales of Chizarira National Park, but never really wanted to journey there. Why, when I had Hwange on my doorstep. Well, I tell you. I thought world's view in Nyanga had a view. Mucheni View, in my mind surpasses it. The utter remoteness and feeling of real raw adventure is something to behold. This view I talk about, is breathtaking. I saw the lake (Kariba) with my own eyes from such a distance.

Travel is always a changing game and yet the human spirit of adventure and the art of exploring will always be present in us. if I could implore you, the world is big and in such a fast-paced lifestyle we live in, nothing beats slowing down, taking it all in and getting back to basics. Our trip to Chizarira was a short recce, however it turned into an inspired African affair. I am lucky, humans, we are lucky.

Even my crisp sandwich tasted great. And who needs butter anyway!

If you wish to travel through Zimbabwe on the “road less travelled” please get in touch. The Landrovers and Landcruisers are waiting in the wings.

This was a lot of fun. A true African Bush Dinner for 2. A ride out on to a secret location. Prosecco and G&T’s from our favourite friends . A 3 course dinner, an almost full moon and a duet from a bunch of Hyena’s. All this taking place just under 15km from The Mighty Victoria Falls…. Please note a professional guide was on site, such is the amazing wildness of this location. For more information, please get in touch.

Today is day three. Last night was a baptism of fire in the least for me. After finishing the family style service, chef told me just before main dinner service that I was to do the starter section. I stared blankly at him and asked, whats the starters! After a quick run through I set out and got working. I don’t think it turned out to bad! After many years on the rugby field, last night was the first time I have ever got so close to that adrenaline and feeling of being in a close team on a field.. everyone in sync, playing their part.. wow what an experience.. thanks for this opportunity..
