As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Dubai Duty Free took part in many green initiatives including the United Nation’s Environmental Programme Clean Up the World Campaign, Clean Up Arabia, the Dubai Airports Clean Up Day and Clean Up UAE. Recently, the operation launched its own 'Plastic Recycling Drive' to help combat the global environmental issue of waste and landfill.

Dubai Duty Free has managed to instill that sense of Corporate Social Responsibility across the company, encouraging staff to become involved in initiatives such as The Moodie Report Great Travel Retail Educathlon, which saw over 3,000 staff walked and ran 7km at Dubai Autodrome. They raised US$46,000 to support a group of local regional educational charities nominated by leading travel retailers including SOS Children’s Village (Brazil), Alia Primary School (Bahrain), Lotus Flower Trust (India), Lycée Jean Baptiste Point du Sable (Haiti) and Karatas Village School (Turkey).

The operation also rallied behind three of its employees who participated in the ‘Great Asian Cycling Challenge’ in Vietnam and Cambodia, as part of its support for the Dubai-based charity organisation Gulf for Good. Recently, the operation send two of its employees to a 6-day trekking for a cause - ‘The High Atlas Challenge in Morocco’ to raised funds to help build the fifth boarding house for Education For All (EFA) in the High Atlas Mountains.

In May 2014, as part of the operation's support to the travel retail industry-led Hand in Hand for Haiti initiative, President of Haiti Michel Martelly opened the US$1.5 million Dubai Duty Free Sports Complex in Haiti during the oficial inauguration of Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable. The school was built as a humanitarian response to the catastrophic Haitian earthquake of January 2010.

Other philanthropic initiatives supported by Dubai Duty Free in 2013 include a Dhs3 million donation to support the Ramadan campaign by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide clothing to a million needy children around the world. Dubai Duty Free continuously provides financial assistance and other support related to education, school construction, medical needs and much more.

The 34 local and 51 overseas charities that the Dubai Duty Free Foundation has supported since 2004, when it began, are a clear manifestation of its ongoing commitment to the community.
