Armenian trchnagir (literally translated to “bird script”) is a type of writing, mainly capital letters, using the image of birds and other animals, plants, and even humans. In the Middle Ages, Armenian illuminated manuscripts typically began and were decorated with these beautiful and intricate letters, which are still used by modern artists in Armenia today. Our photo shoot experience with traditional Armenian clothing includes a masterclass in a unique type of Armenian calligraphy called trchnagir. Dating back to the middle ages, trachnagir is writing in the shape of stylized birds and other animals, plants and people. At our photo studio, located in a historic 19th century building in the heart of Gyumri, you’ll have the opportunity to browse our collection of over 20 traditional Armenian costumes, called taraz, before our team takes professional photos of you wearing your costume of choice. We’ll tell you everything there is to know about the different costumes of Armenia, along with different accessories like jewelry and props that you’ll also use in your photo shoot. Meet our founder, Hasmik. The story of our cultural house began in 2014 with Hasmik’s atelier, which to this day tailors custom clothing. A local dance and song troupe ordered custom tarazes, or Armenian national costumes, from the atelier. Hasmik and her team studied in detail historic photos of tarazes, specifically from the region of Karin, getting to know the ornaments and accessories that make traditional Armenian clothing unique. That’s how our interest in revitalizing tarazes from different regions of historic Armenia, and sharing our pieces with guests through professional photo shoots while they wear them, was born. We look forward to creating beautiful photo memories for you to take home.

Գոգնոց | Վասպուրականի, Սեբաստիայի, Տուրուբերանի, Աղձնիքի, Ալաշկերտի,Կարինի տարազների անբաժանելի մասն էր կազմում գոգնոց֊մեզարը, որը ծածկում էր վերնազգեստի առջևի մասը և քղանցքները։ Սեբաստիայի և Շատախի գոգնոցները համեմատաբար նեղ էին և ունեին ծոպեր։ Գոգնոցը կարվում էր խոշոր հյուսվածքով տնայնագործական բրդյա կտորից և ամբողջ մակերեսը ասեղնագործվում էր երկրաչափական, բուսական, կենդանակերպ, թռչնակերպ նախշերով։

Aprons | Rectangular mezar aprons, which covered the front and the panels of an outfit, comprised inseparable part of traditional costurmes from Vaspourakan, Sebastia, Turuberan, Aghdznik, Alashkert and Karin. Aprons from Sebastia and Shatakh were comparably narrow and had fringes. An apron was sewn of homemade woollen cloth of large weave, and its entire surface was embroidered with geometrical, floral, zoomorphic and bird–like motifs.

Հայկական լեռնաշխարհում նշանը հանդիպում է դեռևս հնագույն ժայռապատկերներում, այնուհետև, լինելով բրոնզե դարի հիմնական զարդանախշերից, պատկերվել է զանազան առարկաների (կավամաններ, բրոնզե գոտիներ, գնդասեղներ և այլ) վրա, հաճախ պատրաստվել կախազարդի ձևով (բրոնզից, ծարիրից)՝ որպես առանձին զարդ:
Նշանը խորհրդանշում է լավի ու բարու մաղթանք, արև, կյանք, կրակ, կայծակ, պտղաբերություն և ծննդաբերություն, առաջընթաց և զարգացում։
Աջ և ձախ պտույտներին վերագրվում են ակտիվ և պասսիվ իմաստներ ու կարող են օգտագործվել այդ իմաստները նշելու համար։
Օրինակ, աջ պտույտի հավերժության նշանով զարդարված մանկական օրորոցը նախատեսվում է տղաների, իսկ ձախ պտույտի դեպքում՝ աղջիկների համար։
