Honoured to be named Travel + Leisure Top Travel Advisor for Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.
Barrenechea can pull off the seemingly impossible: sending guests to chef Francis Mallmann’s private island on a hidden lake in Patagonia, closing a Buenos Aires street to traffic for a tango party, and getting travelers VIP access to the Argentine Open Polo Championship. These feats are due to her almost 40 years of planning trips to South America. And while she is a pro at planning referral trips similar to ones she’s done in the past, Barrenechea is always looking to the future. The new Huella de Glaciares trails have captured her attention for 2021 and beyond. The bi-country, 75-mile trail connects El Chalten Argentina with Villa O’Higgins in the Aysen region in Chile. This seven-night/eight-day journey excites Barrenechea due to the rarely-seen glaciers and lakes that are now more available for some more adventurous travelers. Barrenechea can expertly handle the most complicated itineraries for a variety of clients — from family road trips to solo-bucket list hikes.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALTIES: Wine and culinary, cultural (especially art and architecture trips), outdoor sports (horse riding expeditions, fly-fishing), road trips, family trips
